Thank you for explaining in detail. After doing the calculations, it seems like I'd be throwing away $22,750 that I've already spent over the past 19 months (8500 down + 750/m), even though the new car is cheaper, LOL. It's a new car, and it's an HW4, plus it comes with a 2-year warranty extension. The interest rate I received is 2.5% APR, and compared to the current 6.5% APR, there's about a $6,000 difference on a $50,000 loan. When I crunch the numbers, it looks like I could save around $4,000 in total by switching to the new car If I am correct.

specs are same (added wheel + tow)
I would have expected it to be too expensive to be worthwhile. Especially with the interest rate difference as 2.5% is dirt cheap. You might want to have someone check all your math. Just in case.

Since you asked. The extrapolation seems to put it at about 12%, so a far cry from the 200 mile loss that was mentioned by the poster.
Thank you! All I wanted was a reference.

Like to see if vw is going to bring the tiquan phev to the states. Says 62 miles on a charge before the ice kicks in. Good for around town with no range anxiety going long distance.

For those with noise complaints would it make sense for a stereo shop to remove all the interior carpet and use fatmat/ dynamat for sound deadening? Surely it will cost 2500$ to do the entire car but would it be worth it?
The current Model Y production is much quieter than previous release years. More sound deadening and even double pane windows. All of the current production models are better than what people are complaining about which applies to older releases.

I wonder if I should trade in my model 3 for model y. I hate all the interior noise from model 3.
Road and motor still isn't that great with the current Y,but better than the older 3. The Y Interior noise at 65mph is still louder than my 2014 Acura tho. Wait for the refresh.

its a very interesting vehicle... i just didnt like their ID.4 implementation so, not sure id go for it... also, I sorta dislike that Phev seem to have so much more things that can go wrong.

Not sure where you come up with 300 miles lmao

"Level 1 charging provides approximately four to five miles of range per hour charged."

You said you'd need to recharge to get across town. At 300 miles... thats a 3 hour drive. So when I wake up in the morning I'm good for 300 miles. I can't see a scenario day to day, where you would need more than that to "go across town" like you said. So I guess your town is more than 300 miles?

"Underwater on their loan"? This term doesn't apply to cars because they are not an investment that appreciates in value like a house. People buy cars because they want to drive them, not because they expect to make money off the investment.

Literally everyone who purchases a new car is underwater on their loan. All new cars lose about 20% of their value as soon as you drive them off the lot. Even if you buy a used car, it will depreciate each year and probably be worth less than your loan value before long.
Nothing depreciates faster than a Tesla with the manufacturer screwing over owners like there is no tomorrow.

Mine is charging at 46 miles an hour as I'm typing this, your lack of knowledge (beyond regurgitating the same tired talking points) is a disservice to everyone in this thread.
Your lack of reading is a disservice to everyone in this thread. He referenced a level 1 charger. What you are referencing is not a level 1 charger.

From one EV owner to another, please learn how to 1 pedal drive well. You need to modulate the accelerator otherwise the lifting of the foot off the accelerator for that sudden brake sensation is not good for your passengers.
Yea, my wife used to get car sick in her old car, but shes never gotten car sick with me in the tesla. Now, funny story, when *She* drives the tesla, she makes herself car sick sometimes, lol.

So that poster definitely needs to just learn to drive it better. I agree with ya

So he picked the worst case scenario of charging to prove his point? Yea, guess he did. He did say level 1 though... not sure why anyone would, but I guess he would.

No point in comparing a Civic with Tesla...
Its the car he chose to compare with... so I offered the comparison he brought up.

battery degradation significantly slows down after the first 1-2 years.

regardless, the items you listed aren't high ticket repairs.
repairs are typically based on a cars value. therefore every repair is still costly. insurance companies have been raising their rates weekly on electric cars for how much more it cost to repair. watch & see how people will be complaining about the cost.
