I got rid of one of my Tesla Model 3 Performance cars and got a Kia EV6 GT-Line. It's a much nicer car. Better build quality, interior is 1000x better, ride is better, it actually has a driver display, and heads up display, and 360 surround view. Downside really only is lack of robust charging network like Tesla has. I still have a 2021 Model 3 Performance, and compare these two side by side daily. The Kia is just a better car overall.
In 2025, you can charge your Kia/Hyundai/Genesis at the Tesla charging network. Only a little over a year wait. So not bad. Tesla opening up their network will make EVs a lot more viable for long distance travel for all automakers.

In the January through June 2023 timeframe Tesla sold 336,892 cars in the U.S. The next closest was Hyandai/Kia with 38,457. 😂

Weird you excluded all the OTHER lists about EU sales/share at your link-

Top plug-in brands (share year-to-date):

Tesla - 13.1%
Volkswagen - 8.5%
BMW - 7.9%
Mercedes-Benz - 7.4%
Volvo - 6.2%
Audi - 5.3%
Peugeot - 4.7%

Or top models year to date:

Results year-to-date:

Tesla Model Y - 138,814
Tesla Model 3 - 43,131
Volvo XC40 (BEV + PHEV) - 42,207
Volkswagen ID.4 - 41,733
Volkswagen ID.3 - 35,415
Fiat 500 electric - 32,289
Audi Q4 e-tron - 32,176
MG 4 - 31,341
Skoda Enyaq iV - 30,259
Dacia Spring - 26,994

But sure- if you combine ALL models by VW, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, SEAT, Rimac, etc.... AND count plug-in hybrids as "electric", then they sold more "electric" cars combined than Tesla alone did in Europe 1H 2023.

Meanwhile here in the US:
https://insideevs.com/news/689106...s-h1-2023/

Quote :
Tesla Outsold Its Next 19 Competitors Combined In US In H1 2023
Tesla sold about 325k EVs in Q3 in the US. VW sold 16k. Even if you added Audi and Porsche sales it's still more than 10x less than Tesla sold.

And if we stop chopping up by Geo and just look at BEVs, worldwide, for 1H 2023 we get this:

Tesla: 888,879 and 21.7% share (vs. 19% last year
BYD Group: 615,064 and 15% share (vs. 11% last year)
Volkswagen Group: 311,359 and 7.6% share (vs. 7.3% last year)
SAIC (incl. SAIC-GM-Wuling): 308,899 and 7.5% share (vs. 10.8%)
Geely-Volvo: 236,847 and 5.8% share

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your battery range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
Because he's a Musk shill fanboy, probably

Weird, like It's almost as if my point has always been from the start to simply educate readers (assumingly US based ones) the VW (as a brand/group whatever) Makes a surprising number of EVs, implying a trust over other US based brands like Ford/GM etc. Yeah i don't stay up to date on the stats, but like I referenced they were #2 globally last year. I suspect ether you didn't know that (since your initial reply wasn't "They were last year, but that changed since BYD" ) or if you did know that were just being an ass by not saying that and making me go look it up myself.

Anyway my point has been made, and i see your replies are starting to be hidden due to too many downvotes. That's my cue to stop spending time on this discussion.
Man I've forgotten had bad Tesla fanbois can get.

I guess I'm puzzled by if you think "who makes more of them" says something about quality you're suggesting people consider #3, instead of the (by far) #1 the thread is about.

VW is also the only major EV maker selling in the US not to adopt Teslas charging standard, so based on that alone I could not ever recommend them to anyone.

I didn't know it because it's not actually true. Not this year and not last year either.

Your own link "proving" they were #2 in 2022 is actually from... early 2022.

By the end of the year they were a distant 4th place.

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1...1678492285

VW with 4th, behind both BYD and SAIC and of course the leader Tesla worldwide BEV sales in 2022.

Looking more broadly it's even worse for VW-

In 2021 VW group sold about 450k EVs, in 2022 about 572k, and so far 1H 2023 was...322k... if they match that in 2H it's be 644k... and it's unlikely they sell as many in 2H-- they're having trouble finding customers and have already announced cuts to production:

https://thedriven.io/2023/07/06/c...th-market/

Quote :
The company says the production cuts are due to "strong customer reluctance" to buy their EVs.
The story notes

Quote :
the problem seems to be more to do with Volkswagen's EVs rather the overall "electrical world" with EV sales booming in Europe.
So even with slow scaling they're outgrowing the # of people who actually want their EVs... despite customers happily gobbling up OTHER makers EVs as fast as they can get em.

Let the early adopters buy up these ugly Teslas. Waiting for nicer looking EVs
They are probably too afraid to change the design. It would result in alot of new issues , gaps, misalignments , etc. List is a mile long.

Probably people who live in California and on top of that failed auto pilot drivers and also stupid tesla drivers who fall asleep at the wheel who think the car can drive itself.
So in conclusion they are totaling the car and then rebuying the same car , hence the inflated sale numbers but probably would have been better off buying a Hyundai electric car in the long run, but unfortunately did not read up on my advice

now thats a good one! since it is a fact that the Hyundai's are built better and have better interior!

sounds like a good deal vs charging a tesla semi truck to tow commercial goods, and waiting 22 hours at a charging station to go 500 miles , that is depending if you like AC and heat then might be less than 500m. If i was a trucker i would want a luxury suite and run diesel to go 2000 miles.
Tesla needs to work that, might be 10 years

No tesla insurance in my state. Other insurance quotes about $2100 per 6 months for 2 cars. I need to call around. My ice car is $1200 per 6 months.
