I'm kind of done with Woot. I had 2 instances when they sent a totally different version, a cheaper product. Once it was with Kindle, they sent me the cheapest paperwhite instead of the voyage. More recently with an Apple Watch, I ordered gold stainless steel and they sent me a scratched up silver aluminum (probably worth half or less). They do take returns, however it just seems extremely dishonest.

Just happened to me with the Kindle Oasis. They sent me a Kindle Paperwhite. Everything owned my Amazon has gone down hill in the past years

Same - ordered 32gb oasis and was sent a much lesser version of paper white (6gb ad supported) AND it had a large scratch on the screen. I sent it back last week.

Opposite end of the spectrum. Everything I've ordered from Woot has arrived fast and as expected. Guessing it's just buying Amazon products that is problematic. Personally, I'm waiting for the 10th gen.

You can contact support at Woot and they might adjust your account if they make a mistake.
I only buy something less than $20 from Woot. Of course, I had received products different from advertised from Woot. Problems happened about 3 times out of 20 times. And the customer support responded to my query.
Still, I wouldn't want to spend more than $20.
By the way, I still have Oasis 9th gen but I rarely use it. It drains battery very fast. It is probably more to do with the software. Once I download a Kindle ebook, the sorting of the Oasis is non stop and it may drain the battery like that. And the battery is non replaceable by design. I am keeping Oasis as a collector item.

For my primary reading, I just use Paperwhite 2018.which has power saver option under Advanced Options.

I bought one of these the last sale they had.

The battery on it didn't even last 40 minutes of casual reading, wifi turned off, 50% brightness.

So I RMA'ed it and they gave me another -- that lasted just a little over an hour of use in similar conditions.

My old-as-sin paperwhite lasts for MUCH longer than that. Heck, even my active-refresh pocket computer CELL PHONE lasts longer, and that's with goodness how many radios turned on.

Not worth it.

I couldn't find much in a quick search of videos, but here's one [youtube.com]. The guy doesn't talk, though, just shows. The comments below may be helpful. Looks like the 10th gen has the warm light, and you can see how that looks different than the 9th gen in the video.

When you sent it back....I notice on their page they ask if it has a lithium battery (etc) and if you answer 'yes' they ask that you contact them by email. I am still waiting on a reply. Did you do it that way or or processed it as 'no' (lithium battery)??

I don't like being 'ghosted' to begin a return process.

Do you return item to woot or amazon? I already return too many stuff and now amazon hate me.

I bought my Oasis new, still had terrible battery life. I used a hack to disable indexing and that does help if you fill your Kindle up with huge books.
I believe the Oasis was designed to use a special case that had an auxiliary battery. When they dropped the special case they never redesigned it to get rid of the notch and fill it with the missing case battery.

I've had pretty good luck with them although I did get a bum stylus one time. But I bought two used phones from them scratch and dent and both of them had like 88% battery health and no noticeable scratches or dents. It was like a pixel 3 for 80 bucks and a Note 9 for 200 bucks. A couple years ago though... But I had some pleasant experiences returning stuff where they actually let me keep it.

Like they sent me some clothes One of the shirts had a rip and they let me keep all of the shirts (it was a pack of five) and then refunded me all the money. Another time they let me keep a perfectly functional mechanical keyboard rather than make me return it.

All of that said, it's owned by Amazon and my sample size is small enough that I could just be lucky.

It's kind of sad that they discontinued the Oasis. It would be nice to have an option with USBC. I have some cables that have USB-C and micro USB so it's not a huge hassle for me to have a few remaining items with the older port. My PS4, Chromecast ultra and my ancient Kindle Paperwhite all use it. And I have a neckband from soundcore (life nc)

But I'd rather not have to buy any more tech that still uses micro USb... Unless the value proposition is just so good.

I'd jump on this if it wasn't Micro-USB.

Yeah, I sympathize. But I also disagree -- I've had several Paperwhites, iPads, and various iOS and Android cell phones.

EVERY single one of them would last longer than an hour of use. The Paperwhites were very excellent, lasting several novels before I'd even consider putting a charge on them. Even my mobile phones/tablets lasted several hours, with an active-refresh screen + several comms radios active + goodness knows how many background processes running.

With that said, it's absolutely UNFORGIVABLE to get 40 mins of reading on the Oasis with wifi off and screen brightness at a moderate level. Simply put, Amazon via Woot is selling garbage devices. A battery shouldn't fall from 80% to 30% in 5 minutes, then utterly die 3 more minutes later.
