Most people should also qualify for the ID.me discount (student, teachers, seniors, front-line workers), bring this to $940. This was front page less than 2 months ago at $170 more. It's the best price I can find on a Zen 4 laptop with these specs.
If you have an Amex card, check your offers for $100 off $500 at Lenovo (personal cards) or 15% off up to $100 total discount (business cards). Lenovo allows splitting payment among 2 cards.
The P series is the "mobile workstation" line, the P14s is identical to the T14 (non-s) except for driver certifications. The 7840U processor performs extremely well and is very efficient, and has the best integrated GPU available (Radeon 780M).

This looks like a great deal, but I can't find any reviews on the Gen 4 at all. And as they seemingly are relatively new, I wonder why Lenovo is pushing them with such a discount (and understanding that Lenovo artificially inflates their base price quite heavily)...
Most people don't require a powerhouse, they just want a computer for word and probably internal. Nobody ain't needing MILSPEC chassis or IV rated for that.
But I think the laptop is a good price
