Dell says display is 300 nits, for all the nit-pickers

Aside from 240hz being a bit overkill and the weight seems on the heavy side at 7.14 lbs, this looks like the power I want and the price is looking very tempting.

What I'm mostly concerned about is the thermals and other usability issues that aren't captured by the specs. Is alienware still one of the top gaming laptop companies? Do we think the price for high end machines with a 4070 will come down significantly in November? I'm a desktop guy and shopping for someone else so any info and experience is welcome.

Thermals on Alienwares has always been an issue. Lenovos with similar specs run approximately 15% cooler + the chassis doesn't get as hot. My friend's Alienware exterior gets so hot, you will literally burn your finger if you touch the metal.

What's the data source? Evidence? 15% cooler, which side, top, bottom, rear, close to the screen? Any tech review indicated that?

Which Alienware? Can you be more specific?

hmm. this looks like a good deal, especially if you got one or even two Amex cards with the various Dell offers (I believe Dell allows for split tender across two cards). Unfortunately numberpad is a must-have for me, otherwise I think I'd bite on this one.

But those laptops won't be available until March 2024 and will stay at full MSRP until after Summer. You'd be looking at nearly a full year to get 10% gain in performance.

ive noticed the 4070 laptop prices going down and the 4080 prices going up. Sad since i really want to upgrade from my current alienware 3070 to a 4080. Maybe i should have pulled the trigger earlier?

I've got one. The thermals sucks tbh but I bought a cheap laptop cooling pad and it works perfectly.
