Dell says display is 300 nits, for all the nit-pickers
Aside from 240hz being a bit overkill and the weight seems on the heavy side at 7.14 lbs, this looks like the power I want and the price is looking very tempting.
What I'm mostly concerned about is the thermals and other usability issues that aren't captured by the specs. Is alienware still one of the top gaming laptop companies? Do we think the price for high end machines with a 4070 will come down significantly in November? I'm a desktop guy and shopping for someone else so any info and experience is welcome.

Thermals on Alienwares has always been an issue. Lenovos with similar specs run approximately 15% cooler + the chassis doesn't get as hot. My friend's Alienware exterior gets so hot, you will literally burn your finger if you touch the metal.

I've got one. The thermals sucks tbh but I bought a cheap laptop cooling pad and it works perfectly.
