Is it the 980 pro or the 990 pro that had the problem?

Amazon will likely match, Best Buy is trying to get ahead of them.

...the SSD goes into read-only mode. Given that most users have their OS installed on the SSD, read-only access makes the boot drive unusable.

Both the 980 Pro and the 990 Pro had the firmware bug that incorrectly read the drive health. That firmware was fixed on the 980 Pro about a year ago and the 990 Pro was fixed a couple months later. It's highly unlikely that any drives with the old firmware are still around at Amazon or Best Buy, but it's best to install Samsung Magician and update the firmware regardless. With any firmware later than the bugged one, neither drive has any issues.

both, hopefully all these are newer stock that already has the newer/fixed firmware. if not, be sure to upgrade with the Samsung Magician software.

Price matched this to Dell and ordered 2 of them for $100 plus 10% from CB and another $50 with the AMEX weekly membership offer.

Order confirmed for a total of $48 for 2 and got the AMEX offer used email as well.
