Attractive price but I can't bring myself to buy AirPods from Amazon. Too many horror stories in the reviews about receiving fakes and Reddit posts about people wanting to or suggesting buying real ones and returning fakes. Some have mentioned Amazon co-mangles the inventory so there is a chance a pair listed as Sold and Shipped by Amazon is actually a unit from a 3rd party seller.
While a lot of that is hearsay, there are enough reviews that give me pause.
Just bought this from Best Buy yesterday for $199. Called and had them price match to this $189 deal. It was a bit of a hassle because they tried to tell me this was specific to prime memberships but once I had them look through an incognito browser, they realized that this price was eligible to be matched.

I just price matched mine from Best Buy over the phone about 30 minutes ago and there was no hassle for me.
I've got the gen 1's and love them, but there's a seemingly unsolvable issue I've got where the pods themselves will only charge if the case is plugged into the wall. Very bizarre.
Tempted to upgrade, but for other users of both gens—worth it?
Sounds like a similar issue I had. For some reason one ear pod was charging in my case and the other wasn't. My I swapped out the cases with my friends and his charged my ear pod. I called Apple support and they send me a new box after troubleshooting and it worked ever since. I believe I still had some warranty, but they tend to help when it's a manufacture issue or issue that blatantly doesn't look like damage.

Just got some this week such a good purchase nice for when I have to train into Newark and work in the office. Great sound and noise canceling so easy to connect to all my Apple products worth every penny at this price point!

Aren't these shipped and sold by Amazon? The people getting fakes are likely purchasing from third party stores.

Although poster does come across as paranoid, Amazon has been known to mix in 3rd party options in the past for warehouse location purposes to reduce shipping costs. Meaning if the nearest warehouse to you already has an AirPods from a 3rd party, they can ship that one to you instead of directly from amazon.

oh and be sure to tell them what a hassle it is and that it costs them to process both the new purchase and return.

You can charge Lightning devices from an iPhone 15 as well per Apple's site (link [apple.com]):
To charge a device that has a Lightning connector, connect it to your iPhone using an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable.
