simple explanation: electricity on ships is delivered differently than the electricity in your house. if/when you overload a circuit, the surge protection on a power strip will "trip" and cut off electricity. but on a cruise ship circuit, a "tripped" surge protector will still work meaning the electricity will still flow normally. this can easily cause a fire and fire on a boat (especially an electrical fire) is a very, very bad thing.

The launch Nintendo Switch, which will draw the most power out of the various Switch models, pulls 15W [gamespot.com]. Amazon's page says that the USB-C ports are max 20W and 30W when all four USB ports are being used for charging. Even if everything is plugged into this dock, it should still charge a Nintendo Switch OLED just fine.

Of course, if anyone thinks I missed anything then let me know!

Nope, it will be lower if you charge more than 1 device.

Your MacBook will receive less than 67W once you start charging other devices.

Note that in most cases, this is fine. Your MacBook is designed to not use any battery when it's consuming a "full load" (think rendering videos, processing tons of data, getting hot, fans kicked on, etc) and plugged into a 67W charger

If you're just chilling and browsing the internet, even at less than 67W of power, your battery will start charging instead of discharging.

But if you're a power user and really pushing your MacBook, then you'll probably want a dedicated power supply that will give it 67W at all times.

C3 says otherwise plus I've been tracking this for several months. It goes on sale with coupon for $45 all day long but I'm pretty sure this matches lowest price by a few bucks.

there were units getting fried/coaster'd when using anything but the Nintendo charger. Nintendo did not build the thing to industry specs. Now that may have bee the oldest version or older versions, haven't researched what the recommendation on OLEDs is.

That is pretty interesting: 'two cases attributed'' to surge protectors when "a ground had developed on another circuit." So only two events out of millions of uses and only when there is a combination of things (one which should not occur in the first place) happening at the same time? LOL.

But I guess it is better to be safe than sorry. At most only puts a mild theorical risk to anyone's onboard electronics forgoing the use of a surge protector. Cruise ships are so densely packed (and no where to go) so a major fire could kill hundreds or thousands of people.

I know, but like your link stated this combination of no bueno events has been "attributed" to (not directly causing) exactly two shipboard fires ...in history. Perhaps this is the cruise ship equivalent to not going swimming for 30 minutes after eating a Ritz cracker? The mythological cramp someone suffered in 1937 may have been attributed to eating a crackers then jumping in the pool right after but we'll never know. However I think we all agree a cramp when you are trying not to drown is also a no bueno event it its own right. So perhaps it is worth the extra precaution? Not saying it is, not saying it isn't. Just the perspective of exactly two recorded events and both events were actually caused by a failure outside of the surge protector makes me wonder.

BTW, a short to ground and short circuit aren't actually the same thing.
