You could get a rasberry pi 3 and a z-wave stick with domoticz on it for < $80 everyday.

What if you want to add Zigbee switches or sensors? Or maybe some WiFi devices? I don't think you know its capabilities.
A rasberry pi 3 you can do so much more than this. What if you want the switches to trigger your cameras or PTZ cameras to focus on one area, or to launch playing MP3 music on your home BT speakers. Or you want the switches to trigger based off some events, like your favorite stock market ticker hitting some value so you'll blink your lights or want it to send you push bullet notifications. What if you want to get pushbullet alerts or emails if the power consumption of your office computer or AV media room exceeds 187W or some other arbitrary number?
The pi3 is limitless in automation options, its a full fledged computer. I can use it to do automation and monitoring on a whole other level of customization.
