I reached out to dell customer service, and they said they won't price match Amazon prime limited deals.
I had linked him the best buy deal as well. Let's see. He said their customer service would get back to me.

Update: Dell's chat customer service came back to me and said they can't match any of the deals because they're all limited offers. But as noted elsewhere in this thread, someone had better luck just calling the Dell service

how would you compare putting this drive inside of an enclosure (like a $15 ugreen branded one found in amazon) vs the samsung shield t7 4tb which is currently going for $199 if my criteria are the following:

- i don't care read/write performance. both are more than enough fast.
- i care about durability (not on-the-go toss in a backpack durability - but durability of the product while resting on a shelf/desktop and dealing with frequent power outtages).
- i care about longevity (i want the drive and data stored therein to last a long time. TBW.)
- prefer one that runs cooler (related to durability)

price comparison:
this + enclosure: $185
shield t7 4tb: $199

I'm curious to know how much does the 4TB QLC SSD derivative cost compared to this one? The price of this MLC SSD is not too bad though for 4TB.

People still use SATA solid state drives? Seems like an awfully big bottleneck to performance.
seems good for a file storage drive? where one doesn't want those big ass mechanical drives? and don't have anymore m.2 slots?

is this a TLC drive? the first post says that it features "MLC V-NAND Technology".

Yeah, "MLC" was what I meant, disregard my oversight.

i actually prefer SATA ssd over NVMe/PCIe. runs much cooler. i care about longevity more than read/write speed. i don't really care if a file transfer takes 0.6 seconds or 1.1 seconds... i'll take the transfer time cost if it means more data/device longevity.

it all depends on one's priorities and use case of course. just speaking for myself and my use case.

actually, you may not be wrong. the reviews i'm seeing say that it is TLC. and this review says:

"The 870 EVO uses TLC (or 3bit MLC, as dubbed by Samsung) 3D V-NAND"

https://www.storagereview.com/rev...ssd-review

tldr; marketing.
