I found this out by accident but removing the diffuser significantly increases the overall brightness of these bulbs. If you are buying these for fixtures with frosted covers or a lamp with a shade or any situation where you are unlikely to ever have a different view of the bulb then you might want to give it a try before buy a higher watt bulb.

Wish 100W would be on sale. 60W are no go in Hue - too dim!

I thought that the upgrade in wattage only really impacts the white gradients it puts out?

I did find they are good for ambient or bias lighting. I have a few can lights with bases to sit on the floor. They worked good behind the TV stand, couch, illuminating corners etc. 60w is def too dim for anything else

Yup this is what I hear too. If you're actually using them for outputting colors, the difference is brightness is minimal

It does. Which is quite disappointing

If you wanted to reattach would you hot glue them?

That's true. But I use mine for white light most of the time and only set color for "the mood" when watching TV or listening to music. For every day thing, I need bright white light which has color capabilities, and 100W bulbs accomplish just that Smilie

Exactly! Even 3 of these dont equal to two 100 watt bulbs in terms of brightness. Someone walked in my place and said "you got 60 watts everywhere dont you". Nobody should live with that kind of shame and disgrace! 👍🏽🤣

You have to buy at least Echo Dot Clock ($47) to get Hue bulb bundled option.

Is there any real advantage of using those instead of any other cheaper alternative? Those are like 3x more expensive. Just trying to understand the reason

The colors are better with these than other brands and the ease of use and reliability is generally better imo

Why are these bulbs so expensive? Not knocking them, I just don't understand. I have a bunch of smart bulbs and none of them were even $10, let alone $26, or the supposed retail of over $45 apiece.

Even 75w bulbs are a big noticeable jump from their 60w ones in my experience
