Aside from this including the HomeBase, I am not sure if I want to pay the extra price for 4k.
Anyone with both that can share some insight?

The 2K S40 camera's motion detection is far more reliable than this. I had both side by side and I had to send this back because it missed so much that the S40 recorded. The resolution is slightly better for stationary objects but as soon as something is moving you really don't see much difference between this 4k camera and the s40.
The light on this is also not very bright compared to the S40 which is MUCH brighter and could actually act as a deterrent at night.
I'm super annoyed that Eufy just released a bunch of new cameras when their existing cameras don't work very reliably and they're years behind on their promises of home base 3 compatibility.
Bottom line for me is that I would avoid all Eufy cameras unless you want a solar powered battery camera without a detached solar panel, I think the form factor here is the best for that but I'd go with the s40.
I should add that there are two versions of the S40 and if you get the original one there's a good chance the solar panel will start to flake and water will get inside. But if that happens Eufy will replace it as long as you have the photos to prove it. There is no way to guarantee you'll get a newer version, it's luck of the draw.
EDIT: I'll add what another poster mentioned which I forgot to mention. This does not connect to wifi, it only connects directly to a Homebase. So if one camera is out of range of the Homebase then you need additional Homebases. This. Is. Ridiculous.
Also these don't work with the home base 2 so this is a hard pass for me.

4k may also hog more bandwidth and storage space vs 2k.
I like the features and pictures, but my biggest complaint is that the motion detection/zone is only about 8ft away from the camera. I have the top section of the camera pointed on the road where the remaining 3/4 of view is my sidewalk/driveway/patio steps. It only picks up motion when they're already on my patio, and only <30 seconds of footage because by the time it's recording, they're past the fov.
I need to reposition the camera lower, but at that point, anyone can jump and smack it down. A bit underwhelming in terms of fov/recorded area but battery, picture, and AI detection is good.
I'm upgrading from Arlo Pro 2 from Costco and while the recorded fov isn't good, everything else is better. Gotta fidget with it more but I'm satisfied enough but very underwhelming. Feels like it's a better indoor camera, but time will tell with some experiment
