Downside is, if you actually build it and it sucks, are you really going to dissemble it and return it?

Agreed. You can't even buy a replacement slide for most sets at this price.
I've bought Kidkraft on deep discount before and it is generally decent quality. I do recommend coating it with an outdoor urethane or other water seal periodically and it should easily last until your kids outgrow it unless their goal in life is to see how much they can destroy before you cut them off.
It was a husky three year old?
In all seriousness, you're going to want to stake most of these sets down somehow, whether with sandbags over the supports or rebar driven into the soil. They're much lighter weight than what you might build from a lumber yard, but that's why they're $400 MSRP and not $2400 MSRP. Set your expectations accordingly, be ready to do a little maintenance, and at less than $150 shipped, it's going to be hard to beat without finding a steal at a yardsale or flea market.
You don't always have to screw hard. Sometimes that's not right to do
Heat the screw (torch it) before screwing - it's supposed to help keep the wood from splitting.

I built it myself with a friend. There was a lot of screws and bolts but it was all labeled and the directions were easy to follow like a big ikea thing. The only part that messed me up was the green triangular brackets that hold the swing support to the main "tower", in the instructions it clearly showed the brackets upside down. Took me an hour of convincing myself to just take that part down and flip the bracket just to try it out.. that ended up being the problem but the wasted time was all me fighting my better judgment.
Either way I would buy this. Don't hesitate too long and make sure all the parts are accounted for before you start building.

So I would need to seal the wood and someone else said to heat the screws to avoid splitting? This is when a "deal" becomes a headache.
