But why? It's probably easiest to keep track of one gift card that can be used for anyone, rather than have Southwest cancel credit( travel funds) tied to one person, and additionally saving all the cancelled confirmation numbers. Southwest does not have any easy way to look up your total accumulated flight funds in one location under your account.
Buy any Wanna Get Away Plus tier ticket, pay with gift card(s), then cancel ticket for refund to account as flight credit.

Flight credit can only be used by the person who booked it. So if you want to buy tickets for you and your family, only yours will be eligible for the flight credit.
WGA+ credits are transferable (regular WGA credits are not).

I agree when there's only one gift card involved. However, when there are a larger number of gift cards, it can be more convenient to combine them into a single flight credit balance. Smaller flight credits can likewise be combined into a single credit by the same method.

I have SW chase cc and it is not showing under the offers tab. (Sad)
The 5% CB is a regular offer offered on Chase freedom credit cards for this quarter (oct-dec 2023) and you don't have to go through any special links or offers tab. Just buy the SW gift card on Costco's website and use your qualified chase credit card to avail the benefit
Thanks for this! I just won a trip to Las Vegas in May of next year in which my plane flight will be reimbursed when I arrive. Excellent savings for me!

Chase has a card that has quarterly 5% categories (Chase Freedom Flex?). The promotion he's talking about isn't relevant for just any Chase-branded credit card.
I haven't flown much cause where I used to live there wasn't any big airport and everything was supper expensive. I'm moved in the last year and now much closer to a major airport so now I'm interested in going places, but....
I'm guessing people use SW during some deals? Cause right now pretty much every flight from SAC I can find cheaper or equal with other airlines for the same dates.
SAC to anywhere in Hawaii ~ $400 round trip vs Hawaiian $211 for same dates
SAC to Seattle $188 = to other airlines
SAC to Bozeman $310 vs Delta $296
SAC to Las Vegas $155 vs $78 Spirit or $140 Delta
I can make this list 5x longer where SW is more expensive for same dates to same locations.

There are a ton of reasons we fly SW regularly:
- For every example you give out of SAC, I can find a ton more out of MDW, and even ORD or MKE where SW has better fares...except maybe craptasic airlines such as Spirit.
- 2 free bags. Not important to some, a huge deal to others especially my wife and daughter.
- These SW discounts appear regularly and can be the great equalizer.

By SAC I'm assuming you mean SMF. Can you post that Hawaiin airlines deal because I only see KOA as a cheap destination? $211 RT from SMF to anywhere in Hawaii is great, especially if they're NS, which they usually aren't.

I'm assuming you meant Sacramento, right? I have been living in Sacramento for last 16 years and I have not flown any other airline other than Southwest. You will find good deals from SMF regularly and also we have all the Bay area airports near by.
