It looks like the generic manufacturers include a chip with their cartridges (TN730/TN760 in this case) that works with these. As a precaution I would turn off automatic firmware updates in the printer's options. Some informative reviews here:

Is anyone able to check out the order? Keeps giving me different errors when I try PayPal and credit card. Says it cannot process at this time or not enough funds when I do have enough.

Brother's website has always been glitchy at best. Y'all may want to try again in the morning. Many users have reported similar problems in the past, although they usually can get an order to go through after a few tries. There is a chat option under support to text directly with a Brother rep.

What a garbage website. Unacceptable in 2023. Two different credit cards and PayPal all rejected with multiple tries on each. I'm sure it would have rejected all of my other credit cards because the site is broken. I remember running into a major website with similar problems like this before and I just gave up and never did business with them again. Honestly, it's not that hard to have a functioning website with payment processing. Have a vendor manage it for you and if it still sucks then get a new vendor.

Same - tried multiple cards and paypal but no luck. Paypal even shows charges but no confirmation. What a waste of time!
