I say it is totally worth the $30 I paid for it. I wanted this after grabbing a few $20 Lenovo smart clocks a few months ago back that I felt had fallen short of usability. My kids took those and it's cool for them to have. This is a very big step forward in regard to home control of other smart devices and calls or communication outside of your home from the device. I'd say even if I paid the sticker price of $50 I'd be happy with what I got. Also mind that I plan on using this out of the box for now, no hacking, no workaround, no standing in for another device. I'm using it as a straight consumer and it delivers.
