My question is: Does anyone know of a good fertilizer that isn't so expensive? The Aerogarden fertilizer that comes with the Harvest herb kit is made by Miracle Grow, according to the bottle. But the formulation is quite different from the Miracle Grow All-Purpose Liquid Plant Food in the big yellow bottle that is sold in many stores.
All you have to do is take a picture as evidence and upload to them and they'll send you a replacement pod for any that don't grow. I usually get one per batch that doesn't go anywhere and I've never had an issue getting a new one that did grow.

Aerogarden is made by Scott's which is the company that makes miracle grow.

If my math is correct:
1L = 1000mL and default dosage is 8mL every 2 weeks for a 6 pod setup (Harvest) and you have 2 units. 1000 (total fertilizer) /8 (mL per week) = 125 weeks or a bit over 2 years.
Otherwise, I've heard people online swear by General Hydroponics brand. Probably cheaper than the small bottles, but might actually be more expensive than the link I provided above, but it comes in different ratios for different parts of plant lifecycle so I'd assume that you'd get better results overall. I haven't tried and will probably just stick to the default aerogarden fertilizer

Use a spoonful or a spponful and a half for every gallon of water.
I planted 6 herbs in my harvest and 2 of them got starved out and it was generally overcrowded. Would it be same with this set?
Did you plant the bushy fast growing ones on the outside and harvest regularly?
Currently have 2 tomato plants going, next time I would only do 1 plant as they are very water hungry.
I did tomatoes once but found they had no flavor - how are yours?

The early ones had no flavor at all. But after a couple months they got better. I'd say they are at grocery store taste, nothing special.
I transplanted the extra tomato sprouts into a garden for comparison. They grew way more tomatoes but they were smallee and had better taste.
I
How long will each plant last before needing to replant?
If I had to try again, I'd probably start the slower sprouting plants a few days in advance to give them a head start or just plant 4 pods on the outer corners and leave middle 2 slots empty.
