All original employees were let go when vise grip left, they did utilize the building and some of the original manufacturing equipment but the vise grip plant sat empty for nearly 10 years prior to Malco moving in.

I'm sure some came back as they hired locals and there aren't many businesses in the small town of DeWitt, NE.

These pliers are more polished than anything vise grip made even prior to Rubbermaid purchasing them.

I actually worked at the original vise grip plant a couple of times as a temp when I was younger, some areas of the plant would exceed 125F and hit 90% humidity during the summer months.
They were one of the highest paying jobs in the area if you stand repetitive factory work and they took care of their employees up until they sold to China.

Sorry for the ramble 😂, I live about 20 minutes from DeWitt.

I just dropped 200+ dollars to get a set of these before they disappear and their value starts skyrocketing bc they discontinued.

anyway there were out of stock when I placed the order a couple weeks ago and arrived a few days ago, so I think they're all in stock at the moment. It is the best time to pick them up bc it's easy plus you can combine shipping and save quite a pit over piecing together a set some other way.

Yeah, I dropped $200 plus shipping as well, and after opening them and a few uses, I'm already sorry I didn't get a few more clamps and some extra sets of pliers.

acmetools.com has some of these as well, some same price and some higher in price

HOWEVER, if there's a coupon promo going on right now, one could get a few of these vice grip tools cheaper at acme than at harryepstein.com

Easily the best locking pliers. I bought the 7 and 10 inch with both curved and straight jaws.

Those should cover most thing I would use them for. I have a ton of others for crap work.

These are like jewelry in the toolbox.

Depends on how much you want to spend and what you'll be doing. I got the 7" and 10" in both curved and straight jaws, plus a couple of 11" clamps and some closeout items that seemed to be great values.

I think most people prefer the curved for a basic set. I also got both the curved and straight in the 7 and 10 inch.

Oh why did I look at this thread. Now I'm going to want to buy all of them.

Are these private label USA Vise Grips? Or are they a completely different company that made them?

These are made by Malco in the USA.

They are the pinnacle for locking pliers. Best there is.

Looks like several SDers had the same idea on the best choices to buy!
