I'm about to order... A lot... Lol...

I have plastic clamps and they're obviously a letdown compared to stuff like this. I'm just trying to see where not having that flat connection from the foot that can rotate is "bad". Maybe no feet for clamping thin metal to thin metal? Is it a stronger clamp? I guess maybe the feet wouldn't work if it was two really really small things cuz they could slide off...
irwin has good plastic clamps but I'm pretty sure they are meant for wood / plastic only. if you want a middle grade vice grip wrench, I think irwin is hard to beat. and you can often get 3x cushion gripped vice grip tools at harborfreight. you definitely want to have some junkers around because they can do many applications fairly well. then you could keep the malco pliers in mint condition safe and secure in u toolbox for an indefinite amount of time! there is a comforting reassuring feel that comes from knowing your malcos will be shiny and beautiful , maybe FOREVER EEK!

Ok guys I'm completely lost here... I'm trying to check out with a $400+ cart and my cheapest shipping option is $70...

Also this doesn't include the 10% tax my state charges... Shipping is $70-$400... Just how...
hey man, they should be fine in a USPS flat rate box, if they offer that option at that website. fedex ground or ups should both be way less than 70 dollars, you'll probably have to call or email and talk to someone about it to find out for sure

I've bought the Irwin and they're good. Maybe I was too harsh. They just failed for me and it was probably my choice of clamp.

I was waiting for these on sale and finally got new-tool hungry and picked up the Knipex version. Wow, very nice tolerances/spacing and smooth engagement.

I never thought I'd say this, but these are better than a low-end crescent wrench.

yeah I was reading one of the knipex can do a faux ratcheting action, which sounds a lot like wera faux slip / faux ratcheting action Big Grin

I bought a bunch of the wera bc it pisses me off to purchase both SAE and Metric sets. the wera type can do sae and metric on one single tool, in fact I think each one can replace 2 or 3 standalone wrenches

If I recall correctly, these are made by the original factory (and employees) for Vise-Grip, the factory was purchased and spun back up after Vise-Grip was bought out and all operations moved to China. Project Farm has a great review of locking pliers and I believe the Malcos come out on top
All original employees were let go when vise grip left, they did utilize the building and some of the original manufacturing equipment but the vise grip plant sat empty for nearly 10 years prior to Malco moving in.

I'm sure some came back as they hired locals and there aren't many businesses in the small town of DeWitt, NE.

These pliers are more polished than anything vise grip made even prior to Rubbermaid purchasing them.

I actually worked at the original vise grip plant a couple of times as a temp when I was younger, some areas of the plant would exceed 125F and hit 90% humidity during the summer months.
They were one of the highest paying jobs in the area if you stand repetitive factory work and they took care of their employees up until they sold to China.

Sorry for the ramble 😂, I live about 20 minutes from DeWitt.

I wrote to them. Hopefully they'll help I just can't do shipping at 17% of $400+ the product cost and then I pay another 10% in unavoidable tax

Please please this isn't political but these "junk fees" suck.

And here I am wasting and your shopping to find out.... What is an hour of your time worth?

When you order, make sure you put "box art" in the comments box.

It does not cost you anything, so I recommend you do so.

You won't be sorry.

I wish you had been a little less cryptic.

I did not want to ruin the fun of the first time someone orders from HE

I was going to post some pics, but though that would ruin the surprise...

I went ahead and ordered. At worst, I'll give a couple away as gifts for Christmas and retain a pair for myself. I also noted that on Ebay the AcmeTool store shows 'out of stock' for this item, so I don't know what that implies if I were to order directly from Acme - which would have been about $5 less. I really didn't want to roll the dice on a cancellation.

As box art, I agree with your reasoning, I just didn't want to end up with a free rubber phallus in the box by putting in a code I knew nothing about. Thanks.

Thank you. All that cryptic talk was getting weird.

When I use locking pliers it's always for pretty rough work, and I'm not sure I'd benefit from premium locking pliers because I can't figure out these would be better than the husky multipacks.
