Was just there 2 days ago. It is about 1hr15min to 1hr 30min to Yosemite valley (the tourist area). About 30min to the Yosemite South entrance but keep in mind that there is another curvy 1hr drive to Yosemite valley from the entrance. At around 8AM weekday, there was almost no wait at the entrance for admission. at 10 AM weekday, it was about 20min at admission gate. Do add that to travel time. The drive itself is very scenic but the question is whether you wanna do it on the way back after hours of hiking. Reservation date range being winter is another thing to consider.

lol 20 miles from south entrances means probably at least one hour drive each way to the valley way without traffic - that is not a place I would ever even consider staying at if I was going to Yosemite. By itself, it looks like a nice area but advertising it for Yosemite is just meh.

Family has a cabin near here. Good place to visit if you want to just be by the lake and the woods. It's a very small place. Avoid on holidays in the spring/summer though, as the lake gets busy and a lot of people drive up from Fresno & Madera (Especially avoid July 4th). Ducey's has good food but is expensive. Local pines market is way overpriced and if you plan to stay like a week or two you'll be driving to Oakhurst to get groceries.

I've camped on that lake before and it is beautiful. Drive is a 1-1.5 hours to the main part of Yosemite but it's doable.

This is correct. Stayed in Oakhurst because it was, "next to Yosemite" and for three days it was over an hour each way, back and forth to the Valley Floor... That's 6 hours of driving and not enjoying Yosemite... the location for this place is even further away than Oakhurst.

I'd get this if you were doing Yosemite for one day and some of the other National Forests surrounding, but not for Yosemite alone.

Haven't been to Bass Lake since working there for the Great Outdoors movie. I've been wanting to go back, might be the right time to do it with this deal.

So pines resort is at Bass Lake, which is a separate area outside of Yosemite. If you want to do any trails at Bass Lake, they have their own parking pass that a national parks pass doesn't work for. You need to get the pass at the ranger station, if you don't you'll get fined $50 I think it was. They don't make this super obvious and I'm sure it's a trap to charge tons of parking fines.

The hotel and the lake are nice. This is located a mile by the South Gate of Yosemite, where the "Valley of Giants" trees are. However, driving from there to central Yosemite Valley is like 2 hrs and a hundred turns - if you are motions sick, that's not for you. The road is high by the ridge with unbelievably picturesque view points.
This is a great value, considering that rentals in that area will cost double. You need to be sure that your vehicle can do snow and the road might get closed if snows. It may get weather or service closed for a specific period of the year, that needs to be checked ahead of time. Probable reason for this price special.
