Isn't reading reviews part of the normal Amazon buying process? It is for me.

you would think so, but apparently not everyone does their own research

It does not seem to be waterproof enough which one would assume for a flodlight.

that and the solar/battery part is not going to last like a real electric outside light will.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for a while for separate battery/ floodlights, almost jumped at it because the price was $15 less than the last SD I got this type for.

With the reviews one of which is from a known reviewer - would still submit to everyone that these are still not worth it. .. .

All the led lights we have purchased from amazon I have used silicone on all edges and seams. No issues after a few years in all 4 seasons here in Michigan.

Don't be that house in the neighborhood with the 5k outdoor lights that's lit up like a prison yard every night please.

It's great that the solar panel and light are separate, and that there is a remote. But do yourself a favor and buy one that has a bigger solar panel and a larger light body (that may house more than one 18650 battery cell!). Most Westinghouse solar lights I've torn apart have had two decent capacity 18650s and lasted outside for a couple years.

which happen to be on sale for $18 a pop right now.

great price. obviously more than the "jakyled" ones, but the quality is laughably better. plus, you'll save in the long run not having to crawl up there and replace the $10/per lights you bought and lasted just long enough to know that you do, in fact, really like the area lit up. aka, about a week. lol.

I bought about 8 more of them last year when they were $14.97 each online at Walmart (marketplace?). The lights are insanely bright, the housings have decent gaskets, the 2 batteries in each unit measure 2200mAh each. The amorphous solar is a bit weak but hasn't struggled where I live, and works better in overcast (than polycrystalline). The housings have yellowed a tiny bit from UV but not bad. I recommend a tiny bit of dielectric grease on the solar panel charging connector but several have been okay without it. Tech rant:

The only issues are the battery cell holders are plated with the most inferior grade of nickel I've ever seen and the standard 1807 (doubled) transistor load/protection circuit is a bit on the anemic side if the light is on for more than 10 seconds. Also with no sensitivity adjustments, if any light bounces back too bright into the ambient light sensor (inside the PIR housing) it may think it's day out and short cycle the light (a strategic piece of tape fixes this). But it's a fantastic platform to throw a small $9 ESP32 camera sensor/LoRa sensor into, especially with the 20W Lion Energy solar panels that keep popping up on here for $8 if you needed more power.

I picked up 8 more of them online at Walmart (marketplace?) for $14.97 last year. The light is insanely bright, the 2x 2200mAh batteries in each unit are holding up well and replaceable, the housings have only yellowed slightly. The gaskets are decent and no water or condensation has formed inside.

Thanks! Would there be any way to add a diy wifi security cam to this or something similar? the flightlight cameras are too expensive. don't mind adding local storage NAS storage or something
