Isn't this only for new cards? How do you repeat it every year?

All Chase offers reset every 24 months. So if you do it the way OP said you'll never run out.

Is this a special or the normal deal? I thought it was pretty typical to get 80k points on the business and 50k for the personal. I'm wondering if it makes sense to see if a better personal deal comes in the next month or two.

2 years ago I got 100k points on a personal card with $3-5k spend I believe.

I can't remember, can we book with points and still use the companion pass? So using Southwest points to pay instead of money and still utilize the CP?

It's not special, OP is just explaining how to do something that has been around forever. The point bonuses are not special. Southwest knows very well people do this and usually dont 'have huge Q4 bonuses for cards as a result.

I'm confused why there's an advertiser disclosure on this post. Maybe it's specifically Slickdeals' affiliate link but i thought that happened all the time, not sure why this has the disclosure.

What is the best closing date, to ensure you get pass on 4th or 5th ?

I'm thinking 1st day of month for both. Then I'd make final purchases around 12/5/23 ? Does that make sense? The final points would post around 1/2/24. I'd have companion pass a few days after 1/2/24. Is this doable?

Thanks

I currently have a SW business card.
Can I close out the old card and immediatly open a new one for the bonus, or do I need to wait?

"That should not be a problem. The two rules to getting a new card bonus are

1) You can't be a current cardholder
2) You can't get a new card bonus within 24 months of the date you got the last one.

Anyone can cancel a card today, and apply for a new one tomorrow."

Only need about 60k points to hit Companion Pass for the year and I already have two Southwest personal cards (a hold over from back when this was possible). Should I go ahead and do the business card, do the spend in Nov, and make a Companion pass for 2024? I'm always A-List, but the wife is hit or miss on making it. She probably won't make it for 2024. She was A-List for 2023.

I've also read on the past that you should wait 30 days after closing before applying for a new card, but I don't know if this is actually needed. Just something I read on the internet

I'm confused by the line:

The above 2 cards will get you 136000 Southwest rapid reward points qualifying you for a companion pass.

How does 50,000 points plus $1000 spend get you the required 135,000 points to get a pass. Am I missing something?

EDIT: I see my mistake, they mean apply for BOTH cards.

If I remember correctly, it used to be 24 months for "each" card so you could rotate through and now it doesn't matter which personal card you had before. So, if you get any personal signup bonus within 24 months, you're not eligible. Does that sound right?

For 2024/2025 you must do final spend after December closing date. (Not November)

I just want to make sure I get this right. The 85,000 bonus will put me (way) over the top to get the companion pass. But, I should wait to spend the required amount (or finish spending that required amount in December) after I get my statement for Novemeber spending after the 1st of December. When I pay off the December bill on January 1st, that will get me a companion pass for 24 and 25? So I don't want to spend the full amount until the December billing cycle. And then pay it off after January 1st. Will it make a difference if my due date is like the 5th or something like that?

After you get your card(s) contact chase, phone or message, and request 1st of month as payment date thus the closing date will be 4th. The points posted by 5th. Been doing it for last 8yrs, works everytime
You can only request specific payment date not closing date. If you request last day of month, weekend at month end "might" affect closing. That is why I chose the way I did.
