How common is it for Costco to run promotions to become a member? Wondering if this is a good deal to join since I'm currently not a member.

I was waiting for the deal where they give you $40 worth of Kirkland crap in what seems to be a coupon book but this $30 is as good as cash and you can buy whatever... And of course, you can always get your $30 back from Costco if you are not satisfied with your membership

Thank you for your reply and great points! You mentioned I'd be able to get my $30 back from Costco if I'm not satisfied, would it be a 30 day window to utilize that?

I didn't see anything about Auto renewal but I did let them save my credit card and the code worked cause I got a penny off for the code I put in. Let's see how long it takes for the $30 email

You have 11 months to get full money back for your membership, if for any reason you are not satisfied. That's just the way it's been... no questions asked.

I just would not do this the day before your membership is due up for renewal because then it's obvious to them what you're doing.

So if I currently had a Costco membership, I'd go get my $$$ back and hop on this deal. This is wrong cause membership is how Costco profits so I obviously would not go back on the same day, but it's Costco. They'll be alright...

This is timely. Spent the weekend looking to sign up for a membership but with a deal.
I will likely cancel within a year BUT if it is working out, will not. That is my plan.

Costco should reward their current customers for renewing. Especially since the word has gotten out that membership rates will probably go up.

New membership is valid until next year end of month. Therefore, better to get at start of month. This way membership is valid for ~13 months.
