It costs 80 euro 💶 where I am. Literally double the amount you can get it for.

I somewhat am in agreement with you.
When Anker first came out a 5+ years ago, they were the go to on phone charging cables due to their durability, warranty, and price when compared to the field.

Since they've built up a huge customer base (I get multiple e-mails from them on various throw-away shopping e-mail addresses weekly), they advertise heavily, with more and more expensive products. Their chargers and cords are now way above the price of the competition.

Some don't mind paying $40+ for a wall charger...especially the ones who have to connect their devices all day long and have to do it as quick as possible...and thus they need every watt of juice they can get, as fast as they can.

My phone can last all day easily on an overnight charge....so I'm not one of those types.

But your premise about the expensiveness of Anker overall is warranted...but some are willing/needing to pay for their extra costs to stay charged and connected.

I agree with what you said. I bought a couple of these. $35 with the cable and wherever I go with my Mac and iPad I'm good to go.

Its not an apples to apples comparison. You can still get a single port 20W-30W chargers for $10/charger in packs of 2 or 3 from Anker, or any other brand for that matter.

This specific charger provides a lot more advantages/features over the those cheaper (and still good) chargers
  • Multiple USB-C and at least one USB A port. Really fills the need for folks who have a phone, laptop/tablet/, and a watch which usually use USB A ports.
  • The power division for the above use case is perfect when using all 3 (45W + 30W + 18W)
  • It sucks to have so many different fast charging standards, but this one seems to support most (that I know?) PD, PPS, QC, whatever the hell all those mean.
So, yeah, I dont like the price, but I understand why this one costs more. These things have just gotten more complex, thus increasing the development, and manufacturing costs.

Basically, what we pay is what we get.

Yup, very happy with the two of these that were on sale at BB for $25 and $28 months ago:

While this may not be the "cheapest" option, I'm very happy with mine. It's great when traveling. I can take one charging block to charge everything that I bring.

I tend to be okay with Anker's premium pricing because they (1) have fantastic warranty support and (2) their stuff works TO SPEC.

I have a handful of BASEUS chargers that run nowhere near the wattage advertised, heat up to ridiculous temps even when not at load, and are generally subpar.

Seriously, if any of y'all have something that tracks charging wattage, test your chargers. I bet most are far from advertised.

That is not really the same category of product. If what you need is that category, it's a fine product and there are similars from many brands, including Anker. But the posted product is GaN, has 2x USB C and 1x USB A with power distribution suitable for a laptop, phone, and something else. That's a category on its own with fewer quality competitors.

A suitable products for its category, but note the list price of $92. I think we'll see a lot of deals for non-GaN USB C chargers as the industry shifts to GaN.
