It looks like they are charging tax for the full price of the item.
Example, Rokinon 135mm
$710
$42 tax (6% in my state)
after discount
$710
$42 tax
$142 discount(20% of $710)
Feels like I am being overcharged by $8.
That is odd. But hear me out. Ebay is the one paying for the discount - the seller is not actually ebay. I believe the people/stores selling these things are still getting paid the full amount (part by you and part by ebay) so they're charging you sales tax on the full price.
It's kinda like how it works for manufacturer's coupons.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I keep getting the error "This code can't be applied to your order.". I have tried it on Samsung Watches. Is there something on the listing that will tell me if the code is applicable without going to the checkout screen?

Not sure if I made out like a bandit, but I got a used iPhone 14 pro for 643.00 (no tax, Delaware resident) after the discount.
They mark up 40%...sneaky POS mofos.
