Yes and no. This is a big price break from their original price but they're still expensive compared to other HDD. And while they are faster, they're still not as fast as a decent SSD. For modern games an SSD is pretty much a requirement.

I have a hard time not looking at HDD's as mass storage for media. I have my SSD's for games and programs but I have a Toshiba P300 3tb 7200rpm spinny boi for my ripped blu rays, downloaded music, pictures and the like. I even put some less-intensive games on it.
Transfer speeds aren't that bad to be honest and it's been running in my system for well over 5 years of me never shutting my PC down. Seeing these for this price is making it really hard for me to want to switch to all SSD, even if I really want to switch to a smaller PC case.

I agree HDDs still make sense for mass storage, media, backups, etc. But this is marketed as a "gaming" drive and I just wanted to point out that it actually isn't a good choice for modern games.

I think it depends on what resolution you're running. 1080p you would be fine with a spinning disc, realistically most games you'd only be waiting longer on the load times unless it's a BRAND NEW AAA title and you're maxing out everything.1440p it starts to depend on the game and 4k you'll hate yourself if you don't have an SSD.
I still have some of my games installed on my HDD and I actually forget they're on there because they don't seem to perform any worse than the games that ARE on my SSDs, and I run 1440p. But SSD prices are getting more reasonable so I do plan on filling both of my M.2 slots with 2-4tb drives for games eventually.
My OS is installed on a Samsung SATA SSD and it's perfectly snappy and responsive, so I'm probably just going to leave it on there. Plus I feel like 2.5" SSDs CAN be more reliable and long lasting. Tech is kinda wild lately, especially with storage.
I tend to agree...I paid $128 for a 8TB WD drive 5 years ago granted it was an external Easystore (but it was easy to shuck and I put my old 2TB Toshiba drive in it).

They're not faster than bottom-of-the-barrel SSDs. It doesn't make sense that they'd call this a "gaming" hard drive - that hasn't been a thing with HDDs since prior to 2010.
If this is just your storage drive, sure. But this isn't even a good price for a storage drive.

Game vs. NAS, in this case, is nothing more than marketing hype. Same SATA, speed, cache, CMR...
These kind of hard drives are good for something like storing a boat load of retro games. Other than that, SSD all the way,
Why? You can get 8TB of NVME for $300 nowdays. Not the best NVME obviously but it will still run circles around something like this.
