I've only ran into a few movies that just wouldn't rip, and I don't think it was the movies themselves just something with the discs because one of them was Jurassic Park 2, whereas all the other movies in the series ripped perfectly fine.
*Just be sure to follow the flashing instructions carefully if you go that route so you don't accidentally brick your drive.
P.S. I got a "Lacdo" brand hardshell case on Amazon to keep it safe when I'm not using it.

" Under section 117, you or someone you authorize may make a copy of an original computer program if the new copy is being made for archival (i.e., backup) purposes only; you are the legal owner of the copy; and any copy made for archival purposes is either destroyed, or transferred with the original copy, once the original copy is sold, given away, or otherwise transferred."
If you own the disc you can make a backup copy.
A nice benefit is you effectively end up "upgrading" the drive to one of these:

1) Portable media for Blueray Players: Many of those type of applications; this drive would make sense. It is just slow to create them and older media players have gone to streaming
2) Backup: I used to backup to Blueray; now that M2 drives have dropped in price and can be put on a 3.0 USB drive enclosures - copying to BR media is almost obsolete. I currently use two sets of 2TB M2 USB 3.0 drives & enclosures to backup - swapping on intervals between them - Examples:

no, you can't get "scsi errors" because this is not a scsi drive.
that code you posted has nothing to do with scsi.

"Pirating" refers to obtaining (usually via download) media that you do not otherwise own.
"Ripping" refers to changing the format of media you do own, such as converting a disc to a file on your hard drive. Aka "format shifting," ripping is protected in copyright law as a valid fair use exemption. Unfortunately, in the US, a separate law known as the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) makes the act of circumventing digital encryption illegal, even if the use for which you circumvent it is legal and the circumvention itself is trivial.
Therefore, in the US, it is not technically legal to rip your own discs, even though it is allowed under copyright. And in a very bizarre twist, the DMCA's penalties can actually be more severe than the civil penalties for piracy.
That said, media companies aren't really trying to stop personal ripping of media anymore, and they aren't going after people for it. And from an ethical and moral perspective, it's absurd to disallow people from backing up or format shifting their own purchased media for their own use.

All the software listed for various cd/dvd/bluray ripping, encoding, etc tasks.
Forums have tons of help with the above, media servers, etc.
2. Makemkv & handbrake.fr
Typically the only 2 pieces of software needed nowadays for ripping discs to media files.
3. Cdrinfo etc sites for other disc related info, forums, etc.
4. Dvdfab.cn
Disable/remove copy protection if you want to play straight from discs.
5. Videolan.org vlc
The only media player needed to play everything ripped using makemkv/handbrake. If this app doesn't play something, very unlikely anything else will. Also lower battery consumption than mphc, which I prefer for the keyboard shortcuts and interface.
Live Crop/zoom of ripped videos during playback varies between vlc and mphc.
6. While you typically need a more powerful system to play 4k bluray from a disc, once ripped, it'll often play fine on a lesser system with vlc. Handbrake.fr can recompress to a smaller, lighter file for even slower systems to playback.
7. Handbrake with Intel Quicksync turned on for Intel cpu PCs can encode Super Fast. Saves lots of time vs cpu encoding on low to mid range PCs. (Nvidia has its gpu accelerated encoding method, too.)
8. Makemkv let's you select which audio, video, subtitle tracks to extract, so when extraction starts, the output mkv file won't have bloat from languages and extras you don't want.
9. Lg/Sony/Panasonic dvd, bluray, and 4k bluray tv players sold nowadays often have mkv support.
Obviously their dvd player isn't going to play a 4k mkv file from an external usb drive, but their 4k bluray player will. Easy to pickup at Wal-Mart to act as a media player for external drives.
Ps5 etc can, too.
Cheap android media boxes, intel nucs, and pc stick computers on ebay etc can, too.
E.g. Old Lenovo Ideastick running vlc works fine playing 2k rips to the attached hdtv.
Some hdtvs can play ripped media, too.

Anyway, are you saying you must be using a scsi connection to get a a ripping error with "scsi" in the description?
