Interesting seeing a FP deal that probably 0.01% of the population qualifies for.

Sacramento IIRC is about 500K people, so that by itself is about 1/660 chance.

Then owning an EV in Sacramento probably about 1/50 individuals do AND have a utility bill in their name (including kids).

So 1/660 * 1/50 odds. = FP.
Thanks for doing the math to show how awesome this is for us. Never won anything. Heck, never been eligible for any Amazon use points for discount offers. Now I feel special 👍🏼

Is there a way to adapt this to my 10-30 dryer outlet or no? As in safe with an adapter if I just limit it to 24 amps in the charge with car's app?
I'm not an electrician, so don't listen to me, but NO.

10-30 outlets use 2 live 10AWG wires and one neutral: 10-50r has 3 live 6AWG wires and a Ground wire.

I had a similar thought about upgrading my dryer outlet to a 14-50r plug: once I got the My 10-30 dryer outlet was wired with 10AWG cable, and had 3 conductors connected and a disconnected ground wire (which is the right number of conductors, but the wire diameter was too small for my charger).

The 10-30 receptacle does not have a way to connect a ground, and the converter cables sometimes come with an external ground cable (just a piece of wire to connect to ground). You would have to be positive that it did not pull too many amps, and very very careful to keep the ground wire connected... I would still worry about somehow damaging an EV battery that costs $$$ and the risk of wires overheating if it started pulling too many amps.

A 14-50r plug is designed for 50 amp devices (welders, air compressors, EVSE chargers, etc.), so I bet an electrician would not install a plug for 50amp devices on a 30 amp circuit.

Man, that's a smoking deal to those who get their power from them...
Not just that, we pay only 9c / kwh with EV rates between 12 AM - 6AM on SMUD. The cost of operation is very low if you are in SMUD territory.

32A is mighty slow for a charger in 2023. With batteries only getting bigger this will take too long to charge cars in 2-5 years from now.
Still using our NEMA 14-50 since 2019 when we got our first Tesla and 32A is still plenty sufficient for daily charging. We average 60-70 miles a day, everyday, and only need to charge for 2-2.5 hrs a night. Faster 48A charging is definitely better but you can't beat the price on this deal. Sometimes I'll drive 160 miles locally runming errands and no issue charging back to 80% for the next day (you don't want to charge to 100% on the daily unless you have the iron-phosphate batteries). I would need to drive 200+ miles daily before 32A becomes inadequate for overnight charging.

If I had to do it all over today I would get the Tesla Wall Connector, but only because the parts for the same NEMA setup today cost considerably more than in 2019. For $85 after taxes and shipping, I got in on this deal in case we get another EV or if a relative on PGE needs one.

Grabbed this on the last smud deal. It works great but even after several support tickets the app/wifi never worked. If that's a feature you want skip it. Was worth it to me just as a cheap backup to the one we had since the car is able to manage most things anyway.
What was the price with the last deal?

Correct, just asked for make and model, so if you want to commit fraud you might get away with it, but why?
If banks and big corps do it all the time, why not?

I can't speak for every electric car but most electric cars efficiency is between 3-5 miles/kWh. To see how much range you get per night is a simple math equation. 32A X 240V = 7680kW. Let's then round down to 7kW due to inefficiencies anywhere along the system. Multiply 7kW with 3-5 miles/kWh and you get between 21-35 miles of charging/hour. Let's say you start charging at midnight to maximize on time of use billing and you leave for your work place at 7am. You have 7 hour x 21-35 miles of charging/hour = 147 to 245 miles of charging/night. Batteries may get bigger but efficiency will most certainly improve. Unless your daily commute runs over 150 miles every day, then this charger will suffice no matter how big the battery is. The only factors that matter are the cars efficiency and the length of your commute.
32A x 240V is 7680 Watts or 7.680 kW

Nah, you don't need oil to live. Humans have lived for thousands of years without oil. There are way more sustainable options, but apparently oil is a must! Fake god forbid we keep the earth liveable!

Disagree, this is plenty for most. You'll have a full batter every morning even with a 125 kWh battery which is only in the largest most inefficient EVs

Order placed. $79 out the door. Great deal and should be plenty sufficient for the smallish battery on my Pacifica plug-in.

Ever figure out the dollars and cents that equates to?
