I recently switched from the io (series 7) back to the 6000. Having used the 6000 (and similar Oral B models) for many years, I was very interested in trying the io. I picked up the series 7 io for $80 during the Walgreens clearance a few months ago. The cleaning seemed a little bit better, perhaps because of the larger brushing head. However, it tended to make a mess. The replacement brushes for the io series have a substantially hollow inside that fills with toothpaste/gel foam/liquid, which sprays onto my shirt and the sink and drips down the io onto my hand. The first few weeks I just cleaned up (my shirt, my hand, the sink) each time I brushed. However, after a while this drove me crazy. I missed the 30 day return window and I had already thrown out the 6000 that the io had replaced. I purchased another 6000 (a pair of them actually that Oral B often sells for $100 around the end of summer), which was a relief to use after the io. I do not plan on using the io again. I do not recommend the io. I recommend the cheaper Oral B models (including but not limited to the 6000). Just my two cents.

I think pointing out options is fine but what's with some comments leaning towards making fun of people for wanting this over some other toothbrush... It's like making fun of people for wanting $100+ designer jeans over basic jeans when they're the same thing. People are on here trying to find a good deal for the product they want.

With the coupon code QUIZ20P mentioned here this is a decent deal (depending on the model), especially for those who don't have Costco or so membership and those are usually limited quantity.

But I hate how Oral-B isn't just saying what model this is. Like someone mentioned it's most likely the 7/7G.

On the page it mentions 5 smart modes... Only the 7/7G, 6, 5 fit this.
It mentions a Interactive display. This rules out the 5, as it does not have it.
The 6 does not have a magnetic charger. The listing does not state what charger it is, going based on the picture, it *appears* magnetic.
The 6 does not come in alabaster blue or any color close to that. But who knows? Oral-B can make non-standard colors one offs to sell off as bundle...

It's *probably* a 7/7G... but then also which is it? 7 or 7G? What the heck is the difference?
Again because they don't label it clearly, this could be some variant they sell with different features for bundling purposes...

Someone mentioned return to Oralb.com is a pain in the butt. I don't have experience with them but quick browse their site on returns, it does seem it's not friendly.

If you are entitled to a refund in connection with a return, the following conditions will apply:
A refund will only be issued when a replacement is not available for damaged or defective item
There is no automated return system, you need to call customer service. And I hate that, they basically want to screen returns, probably to decrease your ability to return.

However they also mention this
Quote :
If you are not satisfied with your product, we provide a 60-Day Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee and will issue a one-time per household refund within 60 days of purchase. Terms of prepaid card apply.

According to Electric Teeth (Youtube channel) if this is the 7/7G, it's louder than other models. iO 7/8/9 are 72 db and the iO 3/4/5/6/10 are 64 db. Usually a change of 10 db is enough to sound "twice as loud" and this is a difference of 8 db.

Given that Black Friday is just over a month away, I think I'm going to wait. The recent Costco deal was better than this.

The 7/7G has faster magnetic charging, but lacks super sensitive mode.
My 7 series was glitching out and the warranty replacement was a 9 series!
Tried super sensitive and never looked back. Bonus is this mode does not spray toothpaste if I accidentally take it out of my mouth. In addition I used the app to remove all modes except super sensitive and intense (use this mode to shake off water).
I've used the older Oral-B 3767 for years and found the new IO series cleans much better.
However took a few weeks to get used to.
My brush heads do not fray quickly and can last 6+ months.

I own this model. I believe it's the i07. Coming from a sonicare that crapped out after several years. My dentists office had casually mentioned going with an oral-b brush, but I hadn't been happy with an older cheap oral-b brush. Luckily, I found it at a deep discount, so it was worth a shot. I would definitely say it cleans better than the cheaper oral-b and the sonicare. I was never really satisfied with how the sonicare couldn't clean the back of my teeth without a lot of extra effort in that area.

This new io series does a very good job, but I would definitely say that I don't need all the extras...gimmicky bluetooth app with coaching, fancy led lighting...all the extra brushing modes. I really wish, that it would automatically stop at 2 minutes like my sonicare did. The head also does have a large cavity, so typically i just pop the head off after a brushing and wash it then leave it off until the next use. I'm sure this could get annoying to some folks, but it's a whole extra two seconds. Doesn't bother me much. My sonicare used to get weird and gunky too, but I seldom popped the head off.

In my research, I'd read that the io6 is probably the best balance of performance and cost. So I'd probably wait for the i06 to go on sale during the holidays.

I believe it is the series 7. One of the tiny differences with the 7g is a flexible travel bag (for the 7g) instead of the plastic travel tube (with the 7).

It is a small motor, some plastic and a battery, $200 seems bit much!

IO basically combines oral b's old brushes with how soniccare uses theirs. I got the iO4 for like $35 and like it a lot. https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/873496

$8 a head every 3-4 months isn't too bad. Theres also off-brand heads now for like $2.75/head.

Normal oral b works well too but I like these, plus they're a lot quieter.
He said $8 a head....

Correct! The new style brush head is critical for the newer function and greater power output. I definitely recommend electric toothbrushes to all my patients and I can see the difference at their 6 month recall in the reduction of plaque and reduced gingival inflammation (gingivitis) when they are going from a manual toothbrushes to electric. However, I've seen a greater difference with the oral b io. You can see the greater power output of the oral b io vs sonic care and traditional oral b if you just run the some water under the bathroom sink and put the brush face up into the water stream. You will see how much more water is splashed and disturbes with the oral b io. That's significant because that is what helps break up and remove plaque in and in between teeth and below the gum line. More power to the teeth isn't always great because brushing too hard is not good either, but it's compensates by the new heads that have finer and higher quality bristles that aren't rough on your gums.

In all fairness the sonicare and the older style oral b electric toothbrushes are very good. The oral b io is better and newer technology. If they are the same price then the oral b io is my go to recommendation. But the best toothbrush for you is the one your most comfortable with and you use consistently. The best toothbrush on earth won't do you any good if you rarely use it. Get whatever works best for you.
