Are we sure this won't be cheaper over the next few months, either these two or the bare tool (with 1 track)? It's a dangerous mindset to have, as sometimes, things don't go back down after a steady stream of markdowns, but I'm curious what the veteran tool SDers think.

Edit: Can you build high quality furniture/cabinets with this, or do you have to go Milwaukee/Festool/Makita?
from what i've seen, things have been only going up

Maybe it was a "luxury" just ~3 years ago. In the last 3 years, there's a plethora of much more affordable track saws. The WEN track saw is a prime example. You can get the corded version + 110-inch track for ~$160 out the door. My 36V Metabo circular saw for instance was $120 without any tracks or batteries.
You're not wrong, there are cheaper options from WEN, Kreg and even Ryobi. I'd suggest that anyone looking for a track saw check out some comparison videos, 731 Woodworks on Youtube does a solid job comparing some and cheaper options from those 3 also generally had more compromises and less features. There's also more expensive options as well from Milwaukee and Festool, etc. 731 did give good marks to this Ridgid as a non-premium priced model. The key is largely what battery system you're possibly already invested in.

This would have been the perfect budget track saw, if only Rigid would have gone with a standard track format, to open up possibilities with other manufacturer's accessories

Ridgid track has Integrated accessory slot. I expect accessories are coming in the future. This track saw is the only one I have; I do not care if it is not interchangeable with other brands.

How's your experience? Can it handle thicker soft and hard woods?

Another SD post listed this one with battery for $10 more.... Unsure of the rail length of the other deal.

As someone else showed, that deal gets you just the 2x 27.5" tracks. So you lose the 60" track but it could be a better deal depending on what you have/want/need. The 6Ah battery sells for $180 (crazy), but is on sale for $140 or 2x sell for $250 on sale for $190. The 60" track sells for $100 (not on sale).
If you want to cut an 8' sheet of plywood the 60" is basically a must have, or they sell 2x 27.5" sections for $90. I have several 2Ah batteries and 2x 4Ah ones, so while the 6Ah battery would be more costly vs. the 60" track, separately, the battery is a lower priority for me. So for me I'd spend $10 more for that deal and still really need to spend another $100 on the track, while I could get away with not buying a 6Ah battery right away.

Saw with battery is available for $349. Includes two 27" tracks, not the extra 60". I haven't seen a bundle with both battery and extra track though.

I ended up ordering the kit with the extra track. I have more Ridgid batteries than I need - but some of them are the 2ah and don't seem to work well with this saw.

I've been contemplating a track saw for a couple years to build new cabinets for my house. Figured I'd jump since I have lots of Ridgid stuff and missed the last sale.

Took me all day to convince myself to buy it! Haha.

I have a nice table saw, circular saws, jig saws, reciprocating saw, don't need this. I don't need this. I don't need this.

Good thing the deal is dead

Don't know about thick wood. I put a Diablo blade on it, and it cuts 3/4" popular and oak easily. Mostly cut particle board and countertop laminate. All cuts look perfect.
