Slipjoints are only dangerous if you're careless. All Victorinox SAK's are slipjoints. Looks like a good deal to me

If you want a choil, just make one with a diamond rod. It's not like you can't "fix" it yourself in a few minutes with a simple tool.

Good luck sharpening this knife, the blade goes all the way to the handle with zero sharpening choil.

I get that these are budget knives, and you can only do so much for $12.... but these are garbage. Spend $25 dollars on any number of knives on Amazon, and you will end up with a knife that is at least 10X better. I bought one before I knew better. These are not worth $5. At that price, an Ozark trail from Walmart will serve you better.

Every Statgear knife I've bought has been better than any knife I've bought under $30.

The folding mechanisms haven't needed any adjustment on the knives I've received and they're all still buttery smooth a year later.
The d2 steel takes a bit more effort to sharpen but the edge holds up better, their cheaper metals sharpen to a razer edge easily.
Maybe I won the knife lottery

I was thinking of what I would have to do with my favorite knife sharpener, which I have switched to with most of my knives, a knock-off Tumbler system... I think I will miss 90% of the blade with that.

That doesn't really surprise me. Good QC is hard to come by at $12 knife. The example I received of this exact knife was horrible.

It's also a 2.5" blade. The coupon also works with the Ausus which is over 3", apparently there's not a good grip per Amazon review though and the photo doesn't show any texture on the G10.

Can you compare specific brands under $30 though? We see some good deals so I assume it wouldn't be better than say a Kizer or Civivi that is on clearance but originally $50-60.

No thank you, I only use liner locks myself. I have had more than one slip joint..........slip on me as a kid and lessons were learned!

True but sometimes I need the correct tool for a job and I just don't have it on hand so I use a pair of pliers as a hammer, a screwdriver as a pry bar, and a knife for things it wasn't meant for, having a strong liner lock makes these occasions much safer vs a slipjoint. Now if your just wittlin flutes out of sticks then grandpa's trusty ol' liner lock will do the trick.
