Maybe because it's not a protein bar?
FYI, sugar is the best immediate source of energy that our body can immediately use as a fuel, so it's intentional. Fat and protein require an additional conversion process before our body can use it. So yea, if one is to create an energy bar to quickly refuel energy during intense physical activities, they should make it sugar-based. Same for Gatorade, athletes need fuels that are immediately usable.
You know, if you're doing a huge (huge) workout, sugar can be beneficial (turns to carbs)? No one is suggesting these are for a snack on a bus or in school.

Great deal on a great product perfect for endurance athletes packing for long hikes and physical activity where you need the calories. I prefer carrying a cliff bar over energy gels or gummies.
Insane amount of sugar. These are closer to candy bars than protein bars. "Energy" is as much of a scam as the sugary Gatorade being marketed the same way

If you are opting "in" on this deal, make sure you notice the macadamia box is just the macadamia flavor. This is not the bar that has the macadamia nut. That almost caught me off guard. I went ahead and ordered it despite wanting the macadamia with the nuts. I hope this flavor of bar is good anyhow.
