It's due to the filter, not the actual vacuum itself. Your best bet is a shop vac, with proper filter, for grill ash.

when you click on the url it takes you to an amazon page that shows 2 models I own the larger dewalt vacuum and it can blow when you reverse the inlets I do not however own the smaller vacuum so I cannot say about that one. The larger one however is an excellent portable vacuum

Anybody use this for cleaning inside cars?
Yes, I was just about to chime in and say this is great for car cleaning and small messes around the house. I love mine and use it at least 2-3 times a week.

I got this to clean my grill out, but it instantly clogs for that purpose .. so just a heads for anyone planing to clean a lot of dust/ash

It's probably great otherwise
HEPA filter should choke on ash!

Anyone know if it can blow air as well?

Edit: I see one review stating it can not. I would have liked to be able to use it in my office for both vacuuming and dusting.

Acme same price, but if you subscribe to their text it's $10 off. It applies but you have to pay shipping so ends up being $95.49

Buying this as a toy for my 3yr old. He loves tools and 'fixing'. he's never fooled by kids tools and of course the selection of real tools that he wouldn't maim himself with is limited. Hopefully I'll get a change to use it too!

It is good but weak point is the swiveling floor attachment breaks super easily I have not found a better replacement for it yet.
If it wasn't for that or if you don't use that one too much that this would be excellent.

Does anyone know how it performs compared to the DCV517B?
My wife loves it for quick cleaning on everything in the home. On job sites, works faster than bigger vacs. But, will not do wet vac things. I clean my van in no time

My wife loves it for everything in house cleaning. Carpets, floors, loose cat food kibbles, pet hair. It is not a toy but a real tool.
I am giving one away as a christmas gift to a job worker.
