If you are going to use the 20 lb tank I highly recommend you use one of the Mr. Heater fuel filters with any generic hose OR buy the hose F273704. Otherwise oil will leach into the fuel stream and more than likely clog and ruin your heater. Numerous videos and articles about this issue out there.

Maybe a decent deal, but I'll never order from Northern Tools again. They screwed over a bunch of Slickdealers including me last year. They advertised a free Milwaukee inflator with battery purchase. Then shipped just the batteries with no inflator (and no notification of order change). When confronted,v they claimed the free inflator was a mistake, despite the fact it was still advertised as an active promotion on their site. They wouldn't even pay return shipping for the batteries.

It's the only time in 25 years of buying stuff online I've had to dispute a charge with my credit card.

Sure, any company can make a mistake, but the handled it in the worst way and were downright hostile towards their customers.

Caveat emptor.

I've had this for years. Works ok as noted, but it doesn't do well in the wind. Anything more than a slight breeze. That might be asking it to do more than intended, but it's certainly not a patio heater

Appreciate the info. I won't entrust a filter for potential long term respiratory issues - especially if children are near, and close proximity is necessary due to questionable fan performance.
The filter is to protect the heater from getting clogged with oil and gunk

Yes. It is due to the hoses that have to be used. The oil/contaminates from the hose leach into the heater and slowly destroy it.
There are flexible metal options that should resolve this.

I would think of grade T welding hose would work fine but you could adapt a corrugated stainless steel flexible connector like you would connect to a water heater or other gas appliance pretty easily.

You have a different model. That one has a fan, these DONT! I have the one with a fan and it's green. The red ones don't have them!
Mine (Model MH18B) has a fan and is red. Purchased in 2017 and still running strong.

Fyi...its pretty common to see these units on market place barely used for $50.
If you're hunting bargains..take a peek.

Sure. We can use these indoors but they're trying to take away our gas stoves!

Code for unvented heaters is usually 50 cubic feet of open air per 1K BTU so these should be okay most places, RV, etc. 900cu ft is about a 10x12x8' room. In a small fish house might not want to run it on full blast the whole time, get the temp up and then back off to med or low and always use a CO detector in enclosed places!

Read the model. This is the Big Buddy, not the Portable Buddy. This outputs twice the heat.

I have attached a stove fan on mine. Runs with a peltier module so no external power needed.

Does anyone have any concerns about the benzene level when running this indoors?

I have the one with the fan, used it for working out in garage, but stopped using it because of the smell and fumes. I used it in an unfinished, drafty, 2-car garage. On a cold NE US day it takes an hour to get the temp up, but at that point the smell it creates is pretty gross, even with a window open or garage door cracked. I once had it shut itself off for CO which is unsettling.

Switched to a hardwired 230v electric heater with fan for same price and am much happier.

Last year an equivalent dyna glo was $65. Yea yea time machine etc. But I wouldn't call it a a deal. $180 is just horse sh!t
When prices skyrocket people tend to forget that people also buy less which puts pressure on prices going back down. Simple solution, everyone stop buying shit they don't need
