I bought three of these like a month ago. Should have posted. Its really amazing that they are selling just the shelf for 3 times the price of this kit (that also includes the same shelf). My biggest issue locally with these shelves was finding one without a bashed in corner. This kit helps as it is protected more than the shelves alone.

It looks to me that this is some sort of proprietary system. That is they sell you the mounts and a single shelf and that shelf is not standard. The brackets might be. But the shelf snaps on (?) to the brackets. Can you clarify?

The shelf is a standard 12" metal wire shelf. The plastic covering for it is equally durable as it is ugly. Even if you toss that part the remaining bits would still cost you $40 to purchase.alone.

I am not corporate so I don't know, but what I assume happened is ClosetMaid stopped making these shelves and Home Depot looked for another manufacturer. I've installed ClosetMaid system components in a dozen closets (at least). So far, I have not found anything in these EverBilt kits that isn't compatible with the older CloestMaid stuff.
