Look I'm the older generation who definitely appreciates the quality you can get from a well thought out sound setup. However, let's take Sonos for an example, the simple fact you can eliminate the receiver is huge. Then add in the wireless effect of not having to run wires, and the multi-zone features not to mention all the newest gen speakers having the ability to take inputs and broadcast those wirelessly to the entire house? At the point the sound quality difference starts to matter less over other things. And Sonos has great sound and the tuning is super simple. Many of us just don't have the time or care to get the wife approvals for a huge setup with little flex. I can broadcast the bears game audio to my backyard from my living room while my kids can still enjoy their music in the basement all via the Sonos system. Samsung doesn't offer that, you need two setups and a pain in the butt to be able to control zones with them or any other old school sound setup.
Beam is $40 more than last years deal and it would seem that the wall mount is a voucher now vs being included in the box. Would have been nice to see a repeat of last years offer, but damnit Costco, take my money! lol
Same price as last year for the Arc (20% off), disappointed at that price point that it really needs the sub for any bass. Purchased it at this price and returned it. Still looking to upgrade.
The SL refurbs are better pricing if you're in the market.
Is there a quality Sonos configuration that doesn't need a soundbar? I use my TV over the fireplace with a mantelmount (basically a pull-down mount to keep tv at good eye level) and due to placement a soundbar doesn't work well.
Right now I use two HomePods + Apple TV, the og big speakers, as a pair on either side of the TV. Would be interested in upgrading if there's a two speaker + sub combo that would be much better.
I have the same setup, I mounted the arc to the mantlemount and it work great. You might need to shift the TV up some depending on how close it is the the mantle when it swings down

Is anyone willing to tell me any noticeable differences I would hear between this Arc with no sub, and the LG GX 3.1 sound bar with sub? Obviously aside from the bass from the sub...

I can't speak for the LG but in my man cave I have an Arc, 2 subs, and era 300 as rears. The best investment I've ever made. It is incredible. So if you go that route you won't be disappointed

I'm kinda in this loop of deciding if I should go all out now, or if I can get away with mid-range gear until I upgrade my living space. The whole "can this money be spent better elsewhere" dilemma

You can get a soundbar mount that attaches to the TV and moves with it on your mount. Might need to get longer bolts as it uses the same holes as your mount. I'm talking about something like this (Link[amazon.com]).
