Look I'm the older generation who definitely appreciates the quality you can get from a well thought out sound setup. However, let's take Sonos for an example, the simple fact you can eliminate the receiver is huge. Then add in the wireless effect of not having to run wires, and the multi-zone features not to mention all the newest gen speakers having the ability to take inputs and broadcast those wirelessly to the entire house? At the point the sound quality difference starts to matter less over other things. And Sonos has great sound and the tuning is super simple. Many of us just don't have the time or care to get the wife approvals for a huge setup with little flex. I can broadcast the bears game audio to my backyard from my living room while my kids can still enjoy their music in the basement all via the Sonos system. Samsung doesn't offer that, you need two setups and a pain in the butt to be able to control zones with them or any other old school sound setup.
Is there a quality Sonos configuration that doesn't need a soundbar? I use my TV over the fireplace with a mantelmount (basically a pull-down mount to keep tv at good eye level) and due to placement a soundbar doesn't work well.
Right now I use two HomePods + Apple TV, the og big speakers, as a pair on either side of the TV. Would be interested in upgrading if there's a two speaker + sub combo that would be much better.
I have the mantel mount for my LG C2 77 and have the Sonos arc mounted with the integrated soundbar from mantel mount and it works perfectly.
Do note that Costco-Sonos return policy is perception or satisfaction based i.e. you can return the product after a year or more if you don't like the sound quality that time. It doesn't fall under normal Costco electronic return policy of 90 days.
Just wanted to put it out there for a better comparison!

Can someone school me on the difference between the Eras and the old Sonos play ones?
There was a Sonos Play:1, a Sonos One (and One SL), and the newest is the Era 100.
The era 100 has two tweeters instead of one, a 25% larger woofer, WiFi 6, Bluetooth, and line-in function when not being used as surrounds. Both the One and the era 100 are humidity resistant.
If you already have Ones, it's not a gigantic upgrade, but you'll get increased performance. I've had the era 100s since release, and they've been excellent.
I don't see any issue with that. My one sl was damaged and Costco happily replaced with a new one. Bestbuy and amazon never do that after 30 days period if I don't purchase additional warranty. Costco-Sonos is lifetime warranty and I am happy that my $1000+ products are covered without any hassle.
