I hate how Bose, Beats and Sonos created an entire generation who've never heard a hifi system with quality components.
Look I'm the older generation who definitely appreciates the quality you can get from a well thought out sound setup. However, let's take Sonos for an example, the simple fact you can eliminate the receiver is huge. Then add in the wireless effect of not having to run wires, and the multi-zone features not to mention all the newest gen speakers having the ability to take inputs and broadcast those wirelessly to the entire house? At the point the sound quality difference starts to matter less over other things. And Sonos has great sound and the tuning is super simple. Many of us just don't have the time or care to get the wife approvals for a huge setup with little flex. I can broadcast the bears game audio to my backyard from my living room while my kids can still enjoy their music in the basement all via the Sonos system. Samsung doesn't offer that, you need two setups and a pain in the butt to be able to control zones with them or any other old school sound setup.

I currently have 2 x Five in stereo for music on top of kitchen cabinets and I'm thinking about buying a Sub & an Arc for movies. Can I use the sub for double purpose in the same room? Can I use the Sub for the Arc for tv/movies and then switch the Sub to Fives for music? Is the Sub interchangeable for 2 different purposes in the same room; for the fives & for the arc? (I have open space kitchen/living room)
It'll work, but you'll have to unpair/pair each time so it's a PITA.

Did they increase the price of the Sonos beam gen 2? Remember paying less during the pandemic. (2021)

From what I remember full price was $450 with occasional drops to $400. Maybe $20-$50 less than that for a few weeks during the holiday season.

Got Samsung 990c for $720 including sub, rears and soundbar which delivers same quality sound. Do not see a reason to spend 2.5 times more to build sonos home theater.

I am curious, as to how much better of a system this would be over the Samsung q990? or am i comparing apples and oranges?
Read and watched numerous reviews and Samsung is the best bang for your back. Compared to sonos is no brainier.

Last year I got rid of my 5.2 speaker set up and got an arc bar and subwoofer.

I can't tell you how happy I am to now have the mess of wires and the extra space saving from the speakers and receiver. And I can control everything with my phone too.

I have some old Sonos Ones I may replace with this sale on the Sonos Era 100s

I just bought a Sony OLED, will this sound bar be the only thing I need or do I need to buy other speakers as well?
Need is very subjective. I started small with the Sonos Beam alone and was very happy with it in comparison to others I've had, including Denon, Yamaha, and Visio. I eventually added the sub mini for more depth and punch and I'm simply amazed by how good it sounds.

Agree, have a house full of Sonos speakers (riving room, office, outside/connect, portable, roam), and while they are nice and convenient for background listening, they don't compete with the sound quality from my home theater setup, wires and all.

will the 100s let me hear the characters in the movies talk? Just have an original soundbar now, and it sucks having to control the volume between action and nonaction scenes.

Ya Costco still doesn't wanna sell sub-minis for some reason. I am waiting for Era 300s actually.
If you are existing Sonos customers, you should have coupons in your inbox that discount these speakers to Costco prices or better.

EDIT: Except for my playbar, I bought all my Sonos speakers from Sonos online.

I have both Samsung and Sonos. Samsung is the better home theater system. The only area where Sonos wins is music. The q990c is not impressive sounding, at least with Apple Music.

Speak for yourself. I spent tens of thousands in my earlier days with 150 lbs subs receivers etc blah blah. Spent hours running stupid wires and calibrating blah blah. Now, I just enjoy my q990c without missing a beat. And I spent what ? 30 mins from unboxing to setup? Not to mention, sound quality is just as enjoyable ...
