I was trying to decide between the same two as you, but ultimately ended up going with the V15 Detect Total from Costco (for $559.99) a week ago. Now I'll have to try and get them to match, or just return/rebuy for the $499.99.

My thoughts...the V12 Detect is mostly just a slightly lighter and less powerful version of the V15 Detect. The battery life is actual near identical, however the V12 (for some reason?) does fully recharge about 100min quicker than the V15 (from testing I saw online), but both last anywhere from ~8 minutes on a full charge, up to ~75 minutes, depends what power setting you use.

The biggest differences from my researching is that the V15 Detect Total has 3x as much canister storage before you need to empty, has better airflow and suction, is quieter during operation, and comes with more accessories/tools

On the flip side, the V12 Detect is about 20% lighter, more maneuverable, and has a switchable power button (instead of needing to constantly hold on the V15). It also comes in, in your case, over 35% cheaper. ($500 vs $315).

I'd say test out your V12 for a while, see how you like the suction on it and how often you are emptying the canister. If you find the suction to be fine, and the canister emptying to be a non-issue, then I'm not sure there's a reason for you to upgrade to the V15, unless there are a few accessories included that you feel you MUST have, or you just want the peace of mind of the Costco return policy.

I personally decided that I wanted to best suction possible and a larger canister, especially because I have three dogs that constantly shed year round. That, and the Costco warranty are what pushed me to go with the V15.

I contacted Costco live chat to ask about the $50 off $500 for this item on 11/23. They told me the Dyson V15 is not an eligible item, and only items with the label "NOV 23 ONLY" are eligible for $50 off $500.

Keep in mind, this V15 is not a refurb, so will be brand new, it comes from Costco, so it can be returned at any point if it breaks or stops working, and this is the Total Clean Extra version, so it comes with 10 attachments, including the Fluffy Optic head for hard floors.

I was doing some research online but can't find consistent answers on whether Costco will price match their black friday sale price.
A store representative told me that they won't match with BF deals.

If they will not price match then just return and buy a new one.

Dyson.com has v15 with a more efficient HEPA filter and a built in crevice tool for $574. A certain website offers 10% cashback on dyson.com. I'm not sure if the filter adds any real life value, but the built-in tool looks convenient. Seems like a good deal for extra $17

What website gets 10% cash back? I checked urlhasbeenblocked and it's only 1%.

Also the Costco website one doesn't mention anything about a HEPA filter. Does that mean the filter isn't HEPA at all?

I also noticed that on dysons website that they have 2 models for the v15. One lists HEPA and the other doesn't. I thought they would both be HEPA if they're coming from dysons website.

Both are HEPA certified filters, however, I believe the HEPA-labeled one from Dyson's website is labeled as such based on stricter guidelines from the EU that the non-labeled one does not achieve.

Costco customer service: Price adjustments can only be authorized by the warehouse, and Black Friday promotions do not qualify for price adjustments. If you buy something early, you would have to return & then re-purchase for the new price.

The 10% cashback ended. Without it, the deal is a lot less attractive. The cashback might return for BF or CM.

I think all V15 have the built in crevice tool.
I haven't seen it person, but the website says "Only from Dyson: HEPA filtration, built-in tool and exclusive gold color".
