My thoughts...the V12 Detect is mostly just a slightly lighter and less powerful version of the V15 Detect. The battery life is actual near identical, however the V12 (for some reason?) does fully recharge about 100min quicker than the V15 (from testing I saw online), but both last anywhere from ~8 minutes on a full charge, up to ~75 minutes, depends what power setting you use.
The biggest differences from my researching is that the V15 Detect Total has 3x as much canister storage before you need to empty, has better airflow and suction, is quieter during operation, and comes with more accessories/tools
On the flip side, the V12 Detect is about 20% lighter, more maneuverable, and has a switchable power button (instead of needing to constantly hold on the V15). It also comes in, in your case, over 35% cheaper. ($500 vs $315).
I'd say test out your V12 for a while, see how you like the suction on it and how often you are emptying the canister. If you find the suction to be fine, and the canister emptying to be a non-issue, then I'm not sure there's a reason for you to upgrade to the V15, unless there are a few accessories included that you feel you MUST have, or you just want the peace of mind of the Costco return policy.
I personally decided that I wanted to best suction possible and a larger canister, especially because I have three dogs that constantly shed year round. That, and the Costco warranty are what pushed me to go with the V15.

The $50 of $500 is live now and doesn't appear to apply to this vacuum. You have to buy qualifying items in certain categories and the V15 isn't listed. I put two V15s and it didn't take $50 off, and tried one V15 with a cheap "qualifying item (<$500) in my cart and it still didn't take $50 off.

Samsung Bespoke is super good at $500 - $75 credit - $25 pop up coupon = $400 + free extra battery - 20% chase credit card cash back (maximum $51) = Final price $349 + tax
Hell of a deal at Samsung the other day, not sure if they still have this deal, haven't check in a few days

I freaking love that optic laser thing on the fluffy head. Turn the lights off, blast music, and just watch as you get all the little particles usually can't see.
And the other main head does wonders for my rugs and sofa. Especially with two cats in the house.
And my final plus is it's also super convenient to just pick up and take to my car to vacuum.
My only gripe is that for the size of my house. I generally need 2 charges to get the whole floor done. But if you live in a smaller house or an apartment I think you could get it all done in one charge.

500 - 75 - 50 = 375 + free extra battery - 20% chase (max $51) = 324 + tax
It comes with just 2 extra tools. Not sure yet if all the savings will waste into buying tools.

I got the Samsung Jet 60 and it works as good as Dyson V11.
These things are great to keep your room dust free, I usually vacuum for 30 secs to 1 minute and hang it back to the wall.
I have a V8 and it's pretty good. Only things I don't like is the plastic feel (something you learn to deal with if you want a light weight cordless) and the trigger hold activation. Can be fatiguing, and cause trigger blisters/raw index finger. No not because I have pansy hands; I have gym rat calloused hands; very tolerant and experienced dealing with rougher items like knurled handled tools/equipment.
Anyways, you can buy 3rd party trigger locks for these particular Dyson's though. (I believe that the V12 is the only one in this series that uses a push button)
After a year of the V8, I was going to get in on this V15 deal, but splurged last minute and got the gen5detect instead when Dyson had 21% CB the other day. It's coming tomorrow. Almost feels like I'm gonna get a new car lol. Kinda weird, but Dyson is pretty good at their marketing and alluding that they are a different class of product. Good thing is that with my experience with the V8, I know now that Dyson isn't just all talk.
