If you can catch your finger nail in the scratch, these types of products won't work.

But if you want a real in depth testing and review of scratch removers my go to is Project Farm:

Really thorough.
Unfortunately he does not cover this particular Meguiar Scratch Kit.

It should work as well as any other scratch remover - remove light scuffs in the clear coat and that's all.
Once a scratch penetrates past the clear coat it is into the paint itself and you're out of luck.

Going to give this a try. Tried to help runaway dogs from being run over and one them put their paws on my front door and scratched up my new car.

Thanks! btw does the touch up paint come with clear coat or do I need touch paint and a clear coat touch up tube (don't even know if there is such a thing) as well?
You can just use the touch up paint alone and do it yourself. You don't really need to also buy clear coat, but you definitely can apply some after. It really depends on the size of the repair area.

If you don't feel comfortable about doing it since those little tubes from the dealership or Amazon suck at applying then go to a detail shop.

At a detail shop they will color match and have this little tool they put the paint in to slowly come out of a fine tip. If it's just a minor scratch and a few rock chips they can do it really cheap.

Most detail shops will over some kind of service to meet your needs. In general it just might be worth it to have the entire car professionally detailed... As in washed, clay bar, compound, waxed, dents pulled, and paint corrected.

You could find a Groupon in your area or just give them a call and see what they can offer you. A professional shop will bring life to your paint along with your interior ...and it'll look way better overall.

Obviously do what you can afford or need.. just my two cents after working at a shop.

Yes, it works very well on some scratches and not at all on others. If the scratch is deep or rough, not so much. Also can leave a pattern in the finish of your car if you do not smoothly glide over the area. It is very good for getting rid of stuff like key marks near door handles and light scratches from things like bushes.

Thanks for a great deal OP.

For those who want to remove light scratches like this product for FREE, use whitening toothpaste in the scratched area and wipe it off with a microfiber towel. The micro-abrasives in the whitening toothpaste acts like this product.

This also worked amazingly well to clean my headlights from that haze/cloudy caused by oxidation (though without a UV spray after about 4mo, the haze slowly started again, but just redid it with this). Also, the black plastic mirror caps went from hazy to mirror-like like too. I was so impressed, I'm now looking into a buying one's that's more aggressive, thinking of their Ultimate Compound.

I bought their 7fl oz for $10 so would imagine having this attachment is great for tougher scratches.

Any recommendations for just the pad that's drill-attached like this if one already has the compound? I see those cheap multi-color ones off amazon, any good?

I've used this stuff on electronics—clear plastic viewing areas on radios, receivers, a portable tv.

Your best bet is to look up reviews elsewhere. Slickdeals members aren't that, uh slick, especially when it comes to anything related to cars or tools.

Used it on black, took a while to get rid of few scratches but it did work. Obviously, the lighter the color the better it'll work...

Looks like a very similar kit at 4:33 in the video, but has Scratch X 2.0 instead of plain old Scratch X. Though the video was 3 years ago, so maybe they just changed the labeling?

Came in second only to 3M kit, which look like it would be hard to store and use later because their stuff is in pouches that you tear open.

Project Farm is my go-to for reviews of tools and stuff like this.

Somehow I've gotten a few dents on my hood from what I think are acorns (not sure) but all of them are less than a quarter, most are dime or smaller.

I've thought about grabbing a dent popping kit on Amazon or something, but since we have a few auto semi-pros here, what do you suggest? I took it to an auto shop and dude was like "you need a new hood" I was shocked.

Only reason I care is the car is ~1year old, so it's frustrating to see them.

my 2 cents, even though there are better quality and deals out there, i find that when i buy the kit, i actually use the product and its a lot faster and easier to get quick results.

its all about setup time, having everything on hand at once.

they dont stock it near me, but i would buy this in a second if i needed to buff out some hazing / car wash scratches.
