Isn't this kinda expensive for a shredder?
This might arguably be a bit over-priced for the type of shredder. Fellowes is a known-brand with a one-year warranty for this particular model (commanding some premium).
However, this price is in the range of a micro-shred cut model from one of the warehouse clubs (Sam's[samsclub.com] / Costco).

We had one of those at work and it stopped working after 1 year. I even opened it thinking something was jammed but it looked like it was going into protect mode as it will only turn for about 1 or 2 inches and stop. You would have to go in reverse and forward a bunch of times to remove the paper
Get a micro cut shredder. Given the price of those has dropped a lot, you can get a decent one now for not that much extra. It's much more secure.
11 sheets at a time and 5 minute runtime is not very good either. In my experience manufacturers tend to be a little generous with these specs, so if they're saying that's all it can handle, I'd expect even less. 11 ply toilet paper maybe.

The members mark one is really good for the price. For a fellowes equivalent it would cost close to $150-200. For the staples equivalent I have I paid $179 8 years ago

Amazon Basics "makes" one too... I forget who actually makes it, but there's only a few companies who really make them. It's a pretty solidly built model for a pretty steep discount for the logo change.

You would definitely choose the Members Mark over this one from Walmart? I was about to get the Walmart one but now I'm thinking about running down to Sam's. My old Fellowes 8MC is getting tired. I have a lot of paper to shred and it heats up and slows down pretty quickly. Really lucky to be able to do 8 sheets.

There are two advantages for the Members Mark model (one I've previously owned):
Much smaller shred size (a proper micro shred at 0.16 x 0.47 in.)
A pretty simple warranty return process (just take it back to Sam's!)
I like the Fellowes brand and my longest lived and most reliable shredder was the Fellowes DS-1 that long outlived the 5 year warranty. Admittedly, the reason I didn't keep the Member's Mark is because I had to replace it a couple of times within the warranty and just figured I would return it and use my office shred bin.

Thanks for the reply! I suppose I'll give it a shot for $60. It can be returned indefinitely right? I'd probably be like you, give it a couple tries and then move on.

I'm actually not that clear on Sam's return window (which is in part why I just gave up).
Sorry, don't mean to be rude, but man, evidently you haven't ever bought a good shredder before.
A quick look on the Sam's app shows only a single shredder (Members Mark) under $60 and 6 out of 12 priced over $500, 4 of those are over $800 and the most expensive is $3,150.
So NO!, $54 is not expensive, show the OP some love.
