Are people not receiving this offer? I thought this was a pretty good deal, esp after cashback site.

If porting out after you receive the credit, make sure to contact CS to cancel the account immediately. I ported out and didn't realize my account was still active even though I had no phone number associated with the account and had to pay more than expected. Sometimes cancellation of an account is not automated after porting out or phone companies tend to wait to the end of the billing cycle to charge the full amount.

I'm so sick of these offers half the time the credit doesn't come and you waste so much frustrating time chasing down the credit.

Big no on Consumer Cellular! I made the mistake years ago of trying them out, and was unimpressed. Hard pull on credit, and unending email spamming forever. There are better deals, and companies out there. They pretty much prey on seniors, and those who are gullible. Had a heck of a time cancelling with them, but so happy I dropped their service.

It's postpaid, so you won't get your bill before 10/31/2023, and then you have no way to get the $20.

I recently signed up with Consumer Cellular for one line at a low data usage and was very happy with the onboarding experience and the customer service contact I had. I also read their promises of transparency with pricing. Today, I got my first invoice, and boy!!! They are absolutely NOT truthful in their pricing.

Nowhere in the information I saw leading me to sign up, or in my account information during my first month to indicate horrible added profit junk fees that were not included in the quoted price. I understand about government accessed taxes and fees, and I'm not talking about that (although other MVNOs like Visible and Red Pocket clearly include those in their quoted pricing).

I'm talking about pure added profit junk fees which they give fancy names to imply they are government-imposed, but they are not. Specifically, Fed USF Cellular: Federal which is NOT a federal government fee, and Operational Compliance Fee which was $6.24. The latter has quadrupled in the past year, and none of their marketing material is up front about it.

Shame on Consumer Cellular for one-upping the rental car companies in hiding phony fees, and shame on AARP for endorsing them so strongly.

Heading back to an MVNO that is honest enough to publish out-the-door pricing.

FYI, the Chase credit offer is on multiple cards and has been extended several times already (now to March 31st).

Yes, Consumer Cellular sucks with their junk fees and customer service sucks even more, but I've gotten $80 in Chase credits so far, and expect another $40, almost enough to cover 5 months of the $25 per month bill.

I wanted a back up phone line with some data, and so far it's worked well. I'm planning to port out the number soon though!
