I have had this hammer for a couple years, now. I really like the weight and ergonomics of it. However, the face dents so easily. It's by far the softest metal that I've ever witnessed on the face of a hammer.

This seems like a decent enough price to end up being popular - so FWIW: this isn't a good 'first' or 'general use' hammer for homeowner/DIY use. These framing hammers are big, and the milled face is too aggressive for most things around the house. Even as a woodworker there's not a real need nor desire to have that milled tenderizer face around.

Better option for homeowner/DIY use is a similar style ~16oz head with a smooth face & claw.

In my experience I prefer fiberglass or a wood handle because the recoil from a metal handle seems to impact my wrist more. Im a DIY guy and I'm a big estwing fan, especially because they were American made, but man all day on that vs a different handle makes a noticeable difference. Im not sure if Milwaukee has made improvements on that but that would be my hesitation.

The face on the hammer head dents easily on this hammer and handle isn't as comfortable as my Estwing framing hammer. The nail holder is pretty nice though.

I'm a fan of most things Milwaukee, but for hammers....... it's gotta be Estwing.

What coupon code brings it down to $25? I'm seeing the $5 clip coupon.

I backed into the same understanding through experience. Big Grin

I did, however, find one that I love and can recommend based on that, not being a slickdeal.

It's well balanced, well-made, and once you get that awful sticker off, it's nice to look at on the wall.

I've got their hatchet of the same style design.

The I-beam frame construction and shockshield handle are worth at least $100

"Milled Face Framing Hammer" sounds like something one might hear in an old TV edit of a Sam Jackson movie.

I bought it and it is a big quality hammer. You will see that the asking price is fair

I'll spend 2-3X this for an Estwing or a Vaughn made in the US any day. My Home Depot dumped most of their Estwing for crescent (non US made) and I'm still upset.

Not that I buy hammers often.

Won't be very long and the made in china will be correct. Taiwan unification is on the horizon.

Nobody wants WWIII, they're smarter than that. But regardless of geopolitical issues, Taiwanese manufacturing, especially regarding tools, is typically considered to be much better than Chinese.
