EDIT: Took a chance and went out to Target anyway. They only had one on the peg and it was listed at full price. Took it over to a price scanner and it did indeed ring up $49.99. Thank you OP! Picture attached.

Picked one of these up a while back when it was on sale. This thing is actually pretty nice! The controls feel good. The buttons are a little more clicky than a ps controller, but overall it works well. The thumbsticks feel good. I was a little apprehensive on the placement, but I also have a switch, so I'm a bit used to it. Streaming local from my ps5, there is NO lag. I haven't tried emulation yet, but I intend to.

Fair warning though, unless you have a very thin case, you'll probably have to take it off to use it.

This makes a lot of sense for an android phone because you can load old school games via emulators pretty easy. I had the kishi v1 and this backbone controller before I lost it. My LG V60 barely fit in the kishi v1, and with the kishi I would get more errant up inputs on the dpad when switching from left to right. The backbone was much better. Gonna head out to my local targets to see if I can replicate. I missed the recent Amazon sale they had them for at $69.

edit I like the backbone as it also has a 3.5mm audio jack output.

I'm curious, why get this when you can just use a Bluetooth controller and a phone mount on the controller? Is its form factor that much better?

Yes I know it's powered through the phone and you can connect headphones.

Well yes, it works through the USB c so you don't need batteries, and yes it has a 3.5mm jack which is nice. It is convenient not to carry your Bluetooth controller and maybe phone stand wherever you go, and it has less lag than Bluetooth which is nice when dealing with emulation which carries a bit of lag itself. It is also nice to use physical buttons instead of onscreen controls. You can also charge the phone through the controller while playing. That might be awkward if you have a phone mount on your Bluetooth controller. It also feels better than dealing with a top heavy phone mounted on top of your controller. The only problem is you will need to remove your phone case to use the backbone or kishi.

It does. I have the PS USB-C version and it works great with my 15 Pro Max. You will need an Android device to update to the latest firmware to enable the iPhone compatibility though.
