It allows you to preset the desired pressure. Inflating pool floats and air beds is nice too.
Could be handy for some light duty stuff like 12v emergency lighting or things in the van ... but then I typically have an abundance of flashlights with 12v and 18v batteries around too. Not going to bite at the price, but tempting.
Most DC to AC inverters are only around 85% efficient, but this shouldn't have any efficiency loss if my assumptions are correct.
