For those new to fixing cars, please buy some jack stands too and rest the car on it after jacking it up. Then use the car jack as the backup support. Also slip a tire underneath the side of the car for extra support. One more thing, I also recommend wheel chocks to block off the wheels so it doesn't roll. Safety first. 👍

This looks like it might be the same as the aluminum Arcan jacks sold by Costco.

If so, it is a pretty good jack and the lighter weight is nice. Fits low cars well, but max extension is shorter than some models so probably not great for your lifted overlanding 4Runner

Not worth saving $20 vs that cheaper husky.

I think for once a while use, you can use those cheap Torin one on Amazon. They also weight lighter but not as user friendly as these.

I have an aluminum like this (probably the same factory tbh). While it's manageable to move at ~60lbs, the act of moving it is kinda cumbersome due to the weight distribution (practically all in the rear). Basically the handles are useless. I tied a rope to the rear to facilitate carrying it and I carry it front and back rather than from the sides

Those "trolley jacks" are way worse and not really comparable to the larger higher lift "floor jacks"

18" isn't even enough lift for the rear of my TSX, based on the location of the tow hook. I'd have to use the jack on the sides instead of front/back. I'd even question 18" on my standard height CRV, as I usually only get the wheels a couple inches off the ground with my extended height jack which I think is 24". I really don't like maxing out jack reach or lifting from the sides if I can help it.

I paid like $90 or $100 on sale for a 3-ton low profile Pittsburgh from Harbor Freight a few years ago. Not sure I've seen cheaper than that in a long time, at least for a jack I'd trust my car with. And of course jobs that paid $7/hr not that long ago now pay $15/hr, because things have changed.

Not sure what you're using as a jack point on those cars, but a 20" jack was enough for my slightly lifted Forester and slightly lifted Ridgeline, which sit higher than a CRV. No cross member that you can reach? For my 3-series BMW, getting under it is the challenge - it requires a low-profile jack to reach the rear diff or the front center jack point. It also has rails on each side that are suitable for jacking, inboard of the body pinch points where you'd use a factory scissor jack.
