a lot of youtubers show emulation results/tests. Check ETA Prime's. He did his tests on n100 though. Several others has n95 (or even this specific system). It performs fine.

EDIT:

This guy did the tests specifically with this s12 N95 system. Looks pretty good

I bought the $160 n100 model with 16GB/512GB about a month ago. It comes with Win 11 and runs great. For use as a basic computer, I don't know why anyone would buy a normal desktop anymore.

This particular model is better suited for a basement or cellar. For a kitchen you'd want at least something with N100.

I'm totally kidding. I think this would be fine for a kitchen, assuming it's only meant for looking up recipes or YouTube videos, for example. If you want to play GTA XVX in the kitchen, it's probably not a good choice.

Any thoughts or experience with emulation? That is pretty much the only use case i can think of for me personally.

Can this run a desktop version of Linux? If so, which of the common ones are best compatible with it?

If this runs Windows - linux will not be a problem at all.

choice of distribution will sort of depend on your use. Though ubuntu or linux mint will probably cover most people's needs unless you need it for very specific niche purpose.

kubuntu linux .... I got one of these a week ago and it's great, but you won't be able to get rid of the horizontal screen tearing in playback by tweaking the modesetting driver in openbox or other lightweight window managers.... kwin or a modern window manager *just works* ... no tearing and this thing is plenty powerful enough to run a full desktop environment .... comes with windows for install in chinese/english, can confirm no problems wiping/installing ubuntu 23.10 .... works great as a multimedia client and plays back youtube &etc on a 4k display without any dropped frames/screen tearing
I'll test out emulation soon, but I'd imagine wii/gamecube emulation would be good
IMO this thing is a steal

Usually Beelink mini pcs come with windows. According to the reviews, it appears that this one also does even though it's not stated in the description. Who knows?
