Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank phdeez

Also, keep in mind that any points you have that are more than a year old expire December 1st.

New change, thanks GS.

Also, is this targeted? I don't see it in my Offers on the website.... ? My membership expires in Dec.

I think it's probably only for currently expired accounts. Mine lapsed roughly a week ago, and I have the offer exactly as described in the "Active Offers" tab. It's possible that there's another level of, or even a completely different criteria for targeting going on for the deal as well, of course.

As a note, it was the last item listed there, although for me every other item were previously purchased and used rewards.

I expired 15 months ago. Do you think we will see a better deal BF or Santa time like we did a while back for $10?

My pro membership expired a couple weeks ago but I don't see this offer, so it may be ymmv. Too bad because I'd probably take advantage of it.

There is no longer much value in a Pro membership. Why do people still buy this?

My membership expired just last month. Decided not to renew. This used to be a great deal when you could double dip the coupon for gift cards. They made two changes mid-year which drastically reduce the benefit of this membership - 1) you can no longer double dip the monthly $5 coupon in-store and online for gift cards; you can still double dip for merchandise/game purchases but not for gift cards 2) the minimum gift card denomination available is $10; used to be $5 for Nintendo and Xbox GCs, effectively making a $5 GC free.

I did the math. With these new restrictions it now amounts to a 29% discount on GCs (assuming you are diligent about going in-store each month). Though this deal amounts to a 34% discount.

Of course, I'm not accounting for other perks that come with the membership. Accounting for those, it's not a bad deal, just not an exceptional one as what it used to be. You can usually get a 25% off deal on gift cards around Thanksgiving. But that way you don't have to remember to go in-store each month.

Yea math ends up with a net gain of 40 dollars in 5 dollar monthly rewards after the 15 spent on the membership.

Last year, Discover card rewards had 20% off GS gc. Used it with the $5 monthly bonus to get the Steam gc for the kids. Pretty good deal.
